The man known as Sir Laurence McKenzie was originally a prominent aristocrat on New London. Born to wealth and status, he grew up in a very comfortable home, but with one hitch: his parents were neglectful.
As McKenzie grew up, he became increasingly powerful within the local community. Sponsoring local artisans, taking part in the day to day affairs of the government and chairing several corporations, he did well for himself for a number of years. Eventually, he became disillusioned by the high life. Breaking up with more than 4 women within a year, and then finally losing half of his fortune to gambling in 814 AS, he finally left New London to start his new life.
The first thing he did after leaving was to pay for a passage to Freeport 4, in Magellan, where he worked for the local Lane Hacker syndicate under cover. Using his still working business accounts and very considerable wealth, he bought his way into good favour. Using this good favour, he began getting his favours back, in the form of pilot training, which he learned quickly from one of the Lane Hackers' instructors at Mactan. Taking the nickname 'IronDuke', he started venturing out with the Hackers on pirating missions. He was also, increasingly, indoctrinated with Lane Hacker ideology, and became more amenable to piracy. Purchasing a slipstream light fighter from the Lane Hackers, he decided to say his farewells and go his own way.
Nursing a private hatred for BMM and Gateway Shipping [the families who owned those syndicates had produced two of his failed relationships], he started working his way back to Bretonia.
McKenzie hoped to make a name for himself, but only time will tell.
