What should i tell? First entry in the new logfile, nothing important in the last 14 hours.
Okay, we met a lot of members of the Benitez Family in only a few hours. That´s one of the wonders of the outskirts: You´l meet more nice people than on a marketplace on Los Angeles or Manhattan...
So only a few thoughts, nothing really important...
I´m Carl "Deadcat" Bergmann, born on Freeport 7 in 794. My Father was a Zoner, first an engineer on a bigger ship and later working as a constructing engineer on Livardia Shipyard.
My mother was born in Rheinland, but when she met my father on Freeport 7 in Sigma 17 she was accused to be a terrorist and a red hessian, so she had to flee.
When Freeport 7 was destroyed my parents and me were living on Freeport XV and later flying through the outskirts of Sirius with a solid old Pelican. As i was sixteen we started a journey to places the most never have seen. It was my first bigger flight, a very impressive experience, cause we were out there in the Omikrons for six months...
...when we met an alien fleet in the middle of nowhere.
It was the end of my childhood...
Next i can remember was me laying in a bed and someone´s saying: "oh, he´s back..."
Yeah, i was back, but alone from now on. My parents tried to flee when they scanned the aliens but their
vessels were faster than our old ship. We were stopped and some human-looking alien came in. They had these lucid eyes and tooked over our ship. When someone of
these...
When someone tried to touch my mother i freaked out...
Everything after this i only know cause of what an Order-pilote said while i was laying in the hospital. He was on a patrol route when he and his mates heard the SOS from our ship. They directly changed their way
and headed to our coordinates.
Too late to save my parents lifes but they shoot down these horrible nomads. Then they looked into the
Pelican where they found me and the bodies of my parents, only killed - not infected.
After my physical recovery (as there were some broken bones and other wounds) i found myself on Freeport 4 in Magellan. Sixteen years old i was alone but had to go to school. The ship of my parents was locked to a port on the freeport, a place to live but not to fly with. It was a hard time. Everywhere people i didn´t know,
tests and exercises and no friend no family no hideout. So the school on freeport 4 was my place for the next
two years. I was kinda loner in this time, as the most other kids there were normal and did silly games. I
hated them for their lives, and the only thing i felt was some kind of jealousy. Also i began to hate myself
cause i was´nt able to safe the lifes of my parents but had to live like a slave of my teachers and school
"mates".
I only weared black clothes in these years, dreaming of beeing the biggest hero in the fight against the
nomads, a guy every kid on every planet speaks about.
Oh, i was such a fool...
In 811 everything in my life changed from one day to the other: Luci Hamato came into my life. She was new on Freeport 4 and landed here cause her parents got jobs as medics in the hospital. They came from a Golden Chrysanthemum Base, Ainu Base in Hokkaido. Luci´s father, Romero del Hierro was a former member of the Corsairs, who founds his unbelievable way to the GC´s, where he met Hiake Tomori. And i was the lucky guy who met their daughter...
Luci was kinda bad girl, nothing is safe if she´s in the room but she was friendly to this outsider that i
was. We began to speak, we realized that our dreams were the same - beiing free beeings in a free space, no one who tells us how to behave or where to go.
Lucis father teached us how to fly a ship, i think he knew why we wanted to learn this. But he never said a
word against, and then, when Luci and i decided to go, he was the only one who was smiling...
Luci is my girlfriend now since seven years, both we are on the Zoner way. We do no pirating, don´t shoot
without a good reason but we sell things to places other people don´t want to go. The outskirts of Sirius are our home, no god is near and no company but there you can feel real freedom.
Our ship is a Pelican, name is Deadcat, the old ship where my parents died in. So i remember this all the
time and even if i´ld be on the Zoner way i will kill every nomad i can.
But Luci is not the only crew member as there is also our mechanic Kaylee Norton, a girl from Liberty. She
was born on Los Angeles, a farmers daughter with a big heart for machines. If you´ll see her you would say
she´s a sweet hippie girl but indeed she is one of the best mechanics in the whole Sirius sector. So it´s
really luck that she found her way to our little crew.
Next member is Nolte, he´s a boy with a nose for a good deal. We met him on Planet New Berlin where he worked in a Bar. So he´s specialiced on diplomacy, as he lived in one of the slums Rheinland pretends not to know about. It´s a hard life in there and he joined freely to our little group.
Then, 818, we were in the Tau´s not knowing much about the Gallia presence there. Reason for this visit was a good deal on Holman Outpost - as we thought before.
Actually it was the pure horror out there. We reached Holman and landed but after a short time we realized
the Gallians were looking for us. As fast as we could we made our deal there and returned to our ship.
But what was happened: Gallian soldiers standing at the doors of the Deadcat, our crewmembers were not to see.
So Luci and i hided behind some containers and looked. Then we decided a way the Gallians never would think we were able to do.
First we paid the hangar master a little fee for opening the dock ports in the right moment, then we did
some sleaky game. The Gallia soldiers stood only at the two main doors to the ship, both were closed. So if we were right our teammates were waiting inside. As quiet as possible we headed to the little backdoor of the Deadcat, always hiding behind all the stuff in the hangar. We slowly opened the door and entered our own ship. Quiet forward...
Every room was empty and at last we found Nolte and Kaylee sitting on chairs in the mess room, guarded by two Gallian soldiers. But they were the whole Gallia presence on board.
So it happened extremely fast. We came from behind and then these guys were sleeping for the next hour. After this we freed our friends we checked the systems and Nolte and i dropped the unwanted Gallian Cargo out of the ship.
Back on the bridge we started the machines. It was a funny thing to look to the Gallian people around us. First they were looking doubtfully but when they heard my commando: "open the hangar or i will shoot" the run direct to the station doors. :D
Never before i saw someone running faster... :yahoo:
Outside Holman i started the cruise engines and tried everything i could to flee the Gallic military. But they have good fighters, very fast and what should i say: a whole lot of them...
I would say i´m a good pilot, fast and agile although the Deadcat is a transporter. Luckily we found a way
out of the desaster until only one fighter was behind us. Whatever i´ve tried to do, this beast was in my back and shooting like a real angry one. So it came to a showdown short before we reached the jumphole to Tau
29.
I´ve killed nomads but this was a much harder fight. This little agile thing bited and bited but my shots did not find their target. Our shield was nearly down when Luci gave the first good punch to our enemy. After
a second and third hit his shields were down and we were able to wound the hull. This beast was fighting
like never seen but in the end we had the bigger ship and a lot more armor. So one shot destroyed the Gallian fighter and we looted what was there.
So Natalie de Sonne was coming on board in her Lifepod. First she was more than angry and sometimes we feared she could kill us and napping the ship for coming home. But now after half a year i think she is happy not to be imprisoned in any Bretonian Station. Also she knows that there is no easy way to return as probably the most Gallian would think she could be a spy now.
And knowing the rules on our ship she learned some really important thing: we are living in the outskirts of mankind cause there no god is near and no company but there and only there you can feel real freedom.
So now Natalie is a full member of the crew and working as our security officer.
And we are still on our way through the wonderful emptiness of Sirius searching for what we don´t know.

We had some good times, fast money with short, safe trading routes and a nice visit in the Cayman-system. Never before i saw some beauty like there. Made a little stop on Safe Haven station, where we were taking some fine drinks in the bar looking to the wonderful surface of planet Braillia. I tried to speak with some of the people they live there on the station but they are some kind of... reserved...
Never heard of them before i wanted to know something about how they live and what they do. Wasn´t easy to get some answer.
I wouldn´t be that kind of reserved. If i would live there i would make a contract with Orbital Spa And Cruise, as there is no place in Sirius more interesting for touristic development.
Later back in space we were making a real sightseeing tour through Cayman. We were flying like one of these rich kids from Manhattan or New Tokyo from here to there and back without any sense. Fuel for nothing my father would have said. But it was spectacular wherever we came to. Luci was sitting behind the controls, looking with wide opened eyes. She said: "As if we were atoms inside an orange and this fruit would be the whole universe..."
We left Cayman not without tears in our eyes but we will return to this place of pure beauty.
Some time later we entered Omega 50, nothing spectacular. we only wanted to look on the stations for a good deal but we didn´t find some interesting goods. So bored flying we found the jumphole to Omega 52. I´ve heard stories of this sun system before, also i knew a few films, "commiegirls in nice uniforms" or "Olga From Omega - A Spy In Liberty".
Yeah, not the best films, i know, but i was sure they would´t like us, so i gave order to pass the jumphole. Good idea but Luci was sitting behind the controls of the ship again. She decided something different and gave order to dock. Strange, is this the real Zoner Way, everybody´s doing what he or she wants in the moment? Or do i´m looking like a babbitt to her cause i was not amused about this idea?
As i thought: the other side was hostile, and that´s no word for. They shoot like we were the most horrible nomad monster from outer space... No time to say stop or anything else, unfriendly contemporaries they are!
So we tried to flee. Cause it was inside an asteroid field we made it and searched for another way out. It was just Nolte´s idea, as he had heard some coordinates months before when we were resting on a station. As a stray from Rheinlandish slums he is a follower of these communist ideas like my own mother was. So he must have had a conversation with maybe some red hessian member.
Anyway, we tried to look for the other jumphole. And again it was Luci´s idea too fly closer to this planet on our way. Again there were some fighters only waiting for a humble fish like us. This time there was no way to flee between asteroids, free open space everywhere. I´ve tried what i could but they were angry. At least they gave up, but i think only cause we headed directly to the jumphole back to Omega 50. No reason to destroy a mouse i hope...
Back on Leon base i´ve read some e-papers there. Most interesting article was about opening Omega 52 for traders. Oh, it seems they need a little more time to realize their plans...

things happened, so much in a so short time...
as a trader i´m always happy to find good new routes, some places only a few ships service. So you haven´t to be a real good trader, here is not that much concurrence at all. So i thought about a route my father had spoken about, a route from o Gamma to o Alpha, short, save, nice to fly...
But the jumpholes i knew from childhood on were not at the coordinates anymore. After a short discussion with my lovely girlfriend and Natalie and Nolte about the sense of our journeys we take course to the outer omicrons. I had preferred a way through the sigmas but my mates...
What wonder - we reached Alpha without blessings but it was a hot ride through a strange hostile world, and by the way not that short...
Sometimes i´m happy about that space we have on board the Deadcat. After we entered o Iota i left the bridge, angry about the rude democratic behavior on MY ship. I give jobs and credits to these mates and they treat me like one of themselves...
In may little cabine i keep a bottle of finest Whiskey from the Orkneys waiting for such a situation like this. For what the hell am i the captain?
Pure anarchy on my own ship! Some kind of pirating!
Yes, as more as i thought about all that happened in the last year i got more angry. But i have to admit, we always worked as a crew of brothers and sisters, as this little freighter was in every way our home, not only mine. But as a little trading and exploring team in the so called outskirts we don´t have the abilities to get a good insurance without a rated policy. Something out of reach...
And we would get lost anywhere where nobody will ever find our remains. As much as i hate these strange creatures we call nomads, for what in the hell should we fly into their territory. This is in no way a little nonsense, it is pure insane.
So i led my thoughts come and go till Kaylee asked me to let her in.
"The door is open" i said, so she entered my little "captain´s" bunk. She was the first who had left the galley while our aggressive discussion, now her face showed her sad mood about our behavior during the conference. Sometimes she reminds me to the girl same name in this really, really old neighborhood series i saw as a young boy: "Firefly", The girl i think of in this series is the mechanic on board of a firefly, a ship you can see in space often. I like these series telling stories of ordinary people. It´s not that kind of liberty propaganda series "LSF-team 1" or "Heroes of the space"...
But back to my mechanic who was waiting for my attention. And then i´ve heard some arguments i only heard cause Kaylee did it in her own way, full of love for every single one of us. Calling us a family, a wild one surely, some kind of "outcast" as we all felt no need to return to the boring world of the old houses, these big corrupt system of big companies and their depending governments. Nobody of us wanted to be involved in the wars they fight only for resources. As we all only have one real enemy, ourselves.
So we would form a little family here in the complete loneliness she said, not a military group. Everybody of us would be a reason for the current existence and a needed part for the future of this ship, whatever´ll happen to us.
At the end i agreed with her as Kaylee was right again. And as she gave a little bit of her special synthetic marijuana i was in a much better mood when Luci came in some hours later.
Nothing was happened, only the same green foggy cloud we flow through since our entry in the system. We had no idea where to head to, where to find a jumphole. Some trade lanes were shown on the radar screen but for sure they were not human made. Natalie had set course to a direction she chosen cause of the right feeling...
Is this the way the Gallian win all the battles since years? trusting in feelings?
But okay, i have to admit she found a jumphole to a system without any contact to a hostile ship. Also it was not secured by weapon platforms ruining the shield in seconds...
But on the other side things then looked a bit different...
We had to hide in the middle of a complete open but well defended and wide controlled alien system. They needed not half an hour to find us. Don´t know why but it seem´s to me these nomads don´t use cruise disruptors, or they have really weak ones. As there never were less than six of them on our radar we tried not to shoot them, and after a while they gave up.
It wasn´t the last time we met them there but we always avoid an direct confrontation as we´re not able to fight successful against more than two or three of them together. Were not flying to die as heroes...
Some planets we saw but did not try to come near to them. Only Natalie´s seventh sense leaded us through here. A good scanner is also worth a lot, we luckily found a jumphole away from this world of strange beauty...
...only to dive in the next one. But here we didn´t scan anything on our route to the o Alpha jumphole we had on our radar cause we used it one time to hide our ship from a pirate years ago. But it was our first time passing this system as a way between the both Hispanic houses of Sirius.
If they would unite...
But as they are human they never will. Sometimes we show our evolutionary background: apes we are but not that serious and rational kind living on planet Primus.
Cause we had absolved a complete successful mission, we had to make a little party and short holidays on Planet Malta first. We found a nice little hotel planetside near a wonderful empty beach, and were laying there in the sun, feeling inspired and relaxed at once by only breathing the air. Sometimes we went swimming or tried to ride real horses on a farm nearby (never seen these animals before but it was an very interesting experience.
Luci was that nice in these days - maybe cause of the high concentration of this cardamine. She was friendly and peaceful, you could have thought she were a really nice young woman and not that little beast she could be. But nonetheless i love her as who she is. And so i have to live with her special behavior.
Something little - i think there happened something between Natalie and Nolte during our stop on Malta: a romance between a Rheinlandish thief and stray and a well educated former Gallic officer? I´m curious about that...
Back to the really important things again: we left Alpha to the sigmas, a way shorter route back to the Imperio del Corsario, where it would be much more easy to find a good job.
And there was one and i wasn´t fast or wise enough to take it. Some corsair member wanted to rent our ship for transporting materials and goods to a station construction site. But i wasn´t sure about it, and after a discussion (yes, always these meetings of the crew) we decided to get our Zoner ID´s first as we now are living like refugees with freelancer ID´s every homeless stray in Sirius possesses.
So we missed a damn good deal that would have give us the ability to buy a much bigger and in some aspects more luxurious ship.
But i have to think about this as there happened some strange incidents, coalition ships where i never would have supposed them...
And although Nolte is affected by their ideas i don´t want the coalition rule our lives. Wouldn´t wonder if they would be a lot more control fetishists than the Rheinland police and army...
So i´m sure i know what party i will support if neccessary. I remember good these coalition propaganda events in Zoner space, in no way polite, doing like they were the owners of the sun there cause of their heavy armed fleets builded on the shoulders of an complete oppressed people.
No, we´re really not in the mood for a coalition with the coalition...
It´s time to get the Zoner ID and show the flag of freedom. And we have to think about a better ship, some firefly eventually, as they are not as expensive and we could find some used one in Bretonia. I´ve never had the chance to try one of these ships but Kaylee said it would be a fine solution.
We will see...
Everything else is in order, ship´s working fine, my mates are in their best mood, the suns of sirius shine on our faces.
Log off, Carl

A new entry after a long time...
A lot of things have changed, a new ship, a bigger crew, and we now are members of the TAZ, as we wanted.
This is a crazy universe - one day some people shoot you down - next day you earn millions cause of being friendly. But we live and prosper.
So one day we were able to fly to Cambridge, where we found this wonderful old firefly transport on a junkyard, rotten and rusty you may say, but we saw it, and more important: we saw Kaylee´s bright eyes. She looked to this old ship between all the other wrecks, showed her nicest smile, and then we knew: this would be the new one.
I mean, she´s the mechanic, so she has to say first what she thinks. Next the pilot then, but Luci also was fascinated by the machine itself, so at least we had to buy this one. The Name had to stay: the Deadcat, and as it is a real big one with a lot of holes everywhere, we hired a cat for hunting the mice wich lived here in masses and gave her the name "Schrödinger" as she is or is not (there/alive/in a good mood). She is a very individual lady and all time we have too look for her before we close the gates.
There was a lot to repair before the first start and we also built in a better hull armor and one of the best shields. Then some cannons were needed (we searched a while for the most martial looking stuff to avoid others to engage), and some kind of arrangement for our wants and needs. Okay, our cabins were less than small, i can´t stand inside mine, and i´m the captain, but we have a wonderful galley, every chair comes from a different planet or station. As well as some of us know how to repair a ship engine - there were some of us who know how to find things if you have no money. And we gave the last credits for the new ship and a first haul.
But nonetheless it looks really smooth, some red, blue, and green kusari lanterns give a nice atmosphere, also there is enough space to play basketball in the cargo hold.
More and more we specialized our trading on things needed in the outer omicrons, our most beloved places cause of the still lonely space there. The ship has a perfect ability for it´s size, it is hard enough to handle little fish and fast enough to outrun the bigger ones using countermeasures and luck.
Then, some time ago, we had made a deal with a trader on Primus, Mr Tertius Cornelius. He´s someone, who knew my father, so he treated me and my crew as friends, I was surprized though, as he invited us to little party. We were curious what would await us, but then it was a party i only can say: i never will forget.
There i met Dr. Zajus Cornelius, a member of the well known Primus Science And Nature Institute of Primate Nation. He worked there as medic as well as a specialist in knowledge of human behaviour. We had a nice discussion this evening, and when the party ended we were leaving as friends.
So it came, that we often visited Primus and Dr. Cornelius again. And when he asked me for a place aboard, he was more than welcome: as a friend and our medic. But he is more than this: he´s the best maker of banana flips ever, we´re addicted.
Now there was only one little issue: we were Zoners but we had no home. We were visitors on all freeports, sometimes seen as friend, sometimes only tolerated, but we were never free to stay or to go. As much as we as crew became a kind of inner circle we needed some bigger one to join in. A place to make parties, to meet friends, and lay down with the feeling of freedom and peace.
As it would be logical to join the OSI if you are mostly in the outskirts, we all wanted something different. Logical they do in Rhineland, it´s obviously not that kind of behaviour we need around.
So we searched, spoke to captains and heard about the TAZ. This was different, so completely not that, what we were, as we had no robes nor a goddess. Also we sometimes saw their funky ships, with all this blingbling - nice, really nice.
So we knew where to sail, but how to do?
Never we met someone in Baffin, never elsewhere. Sometimes you can think, Sirius is an overcrowded struggle but if you want to find someone, you can search for all time without success.
So we sailed on and on, here and there. We made a fantastic journey to Gallia, through the small way in 80, to give Natalie a chance to meet her family again. She had never seen Gallia again since she was on the Deadcat but her younger brother Francois had sent a transmission to some zoner freeports asking for someone who heard about his sister. We met him on planet Marne, where he is working for the Council now. He is not only a nice and friendly man, Natalie was different from this moment on, less aggressive, less bitter. And she has already broken with the Gallic Gouvernment, she is becoming a free person.
But then, a few days ago we met Mr. Richard Cole. He is a friendly man and helped us on our way to the TAZ, so we had a chance to ask. And now, today, all others are sleeping, the autopilot is humming, and the engines work in the eversame rythm, i am sitting on the pilot´s place, looking into the stars - today i can write: we did it, we are now members of the church Of Eris Esoteric, popes with nice looking robes and amulets. So we now are really temporary autonomous as we have a home, if we need one.
And so now everything is - Kaylee would say: "shiny, capt´n, all shiny!"
Yes that´s all for now, i could write a book about whom we met and where, but there is no need for now. Better i learn to fill in news more often, i think.
So good night, log, and if we get lost and someone finds this: we were happy before...
So, one last banana flip, only a little one...
Log out...

Sometimes nothing happens and sometimes You feel overloaded by messages and informations.
First and best is: we made it into the TAZ, our ship now is [TAZ]-tagged, and we feel much better after this is done. Now nobody has to be more confused than before, if someone of my crew uses the comm to spread his or her thoughts into the empty space.
My Doctor is pleased of this too. As a citizen of Primus he said, there would be no other choice. His species has a more intuitive concept of reality, one of the reasons they never fought against any other group in Sirius, although there were situations enough to have done so. Also interesting: never there was a threat between Primus and the Noms.
Maybe, cause most of them never leaved their planet, but i´m not sure. There is no information available about this, - not within humans grasp.
Some other things were not that good. Sometimes i dream of my girl and then if she wants to kiss me, she has a tentacle coming out of her mouth to plant something inside me. Always she was strange, from early times on, but i am sure she is not infected or in another way affiliated to Noms, although she likes to fly near to them. But this is the reason for my dreams i think, as i do not fear to get killed by them but their "friendship" is much more scaring.
Natalie told me, there were people in Gallia who worship them as gods, - in a region they don´t really know them already. But here, surrounded by these strange entities, we know them as more than hostile, some overthrowing power if they plant a seed.
Next thing: We wished to have a nice little ship for short visits and fast trips, so we decided after a long discussion to buy a scimitar as it is a really nice looking ship. I´ll leave the crew in Delta on FP11 to take a liner to Baffin, where i will do all the necessary steps to find a ship and get the documents for it. During the time i am absent, Dr. Cornelius will do my job as vice captain.
At least i have to write down my thoughts about an incident at freeport 1, where i tried to stop a shooting between some Reapers and a Hessian ship. But i am not that good in diplomatic things, so it was a horrible situation. Mines around the freeport and us in between.
Sometimes i´m angry about such behavior as a freeport should be a location, where hostile people can solve things without weapons. I only can hope, they think about this and change their minds. At least we Zoners aren´t willing to garrison capships on every freeport, and also we don´t want to do any aggressive actions.
Would be really nice to see people respecting the few rules if they want to come as guests furthermore. It´s in their interest, i think.
But this is only what i think about it. I am no politician, only a trader and explorer.
So enough for today, Luci is waiting in our bunk. Oh my, i love this girl...
A small room, no windows, no lights, absolute darkness...
Luci Tomori finds herself laying at the ground, fully clothed, she feels dust between her fingers and frostiness around. The Deadcat - a dream out of reach, Carl, her man - out of mind. What did happen, where is she?
After a while she tries to stand up, but her knees feel like ice, her arms like rubber. Her eyes still open she can´t see anything but she feels a presence at her side. Could it be Eris?
Her lips taste bloody, a taste of iron, a well known feeling, if she is unsure and bites her teeth into her flesh. What happened to her?
"Godess", she whispers - but no answer.
Slowly she tries to stretch her arms, she is freezing but she has to do anything to be sure, that she is alive, that this is no dream.
"Eris", she asks again, but the room around her stays quite, not one simple noise to hear. "Where am I?"
Nothing, only the icy air and the dust is, what she can feel. Slowly, very slowly she sit up and cross her legs to get a safe position. Her eyes are not able to break through this darkness, so she waits till her body comes back to something like life. She feels no pain, no fear, although the situation should scare her.
"Whoever there is", she says, "whoever you are..."
Again there comes no reaction. Eris can be quite evil, something we all know, but away from that Luci does not believe, that the Godess herself is here. This presence beneath her feels strange, more alien than anything.
"Whoever you are, you cannot frighten me. But i am not willing to wait for a nothing..."
But this isn´t true, and she doubts to sound serious to the presence she feels. After some minutes of silence Luci begins to crawl over the dusty ground, touching the surrounding environment with her freezing hands till she reach something like a wall of metal plates. Could it be a room inside a ship, inside a station? But she doesn´t ask only to get no answer. Minutes after minutes are passing, then she feels a gap under her fingertips. Following the line it seems, that there is a door.
"Am I imprisoned?", is her first thought, cause she can´t move anything and she feels no handgrip. But she has no clue, why someone should confine her. The last thing she can remember is, that she was going to bed aboard the Deadcat, her home.
"Okay", she says, trying to sound convincible, "what damn game is this, i want to get an answer, i have the right to get one. I did nothing to become a prisoner, what the hell do you play with me?"
Like she suspects, nobody answers, so Luci continues to explore the invironment with her fingers. After some while she is sure to be in a very small room, but exept the gap she was able to feel there seems not to be another way out. If she would have any tools in her clothes, she would try to open this door mechanically.
"Hey," she says again, " I know, that I am not alone here, whoever You are, You can tell me, what You want from me. This is not the kind of joke I like..."
