It was the same forever lasting dull day of 782 A.S. in New London system when little Davy came to this world. The Jones family, members of which were Juliet Jones, Davy’s mother, Rico Jones, father and their son Davy, was not rich so since the early childhood Davy Jones got used to tough scrap processing work and low-quality manifold producing in Trafalgar’s smelter. The life wasn’t so good in the teenage too, scrap collecting in a combat service vehicle didn’t bring much money to Davy’s family since his father died when Davy hasn’t even finished school. Davy couldn’t stand even more of such life, the smell of rust and oil. Time for a change has come.
One day, if it can be called like that since there’s no day and night cycle in space, one of Davy’s former classmates Juan Moreau, a tall man with Hispanic facial features, and his hooligan gang decided to do a so called ‘Job of the lifetime’. His goal was to hijack a BMM Hegemon which was stationed, as Juan told, 30k north-east from New London jump hole in Dublin. Juan decided to invite Davy to participate since he was a Trafalgar’s champion of ‘Need for Thrust’ spaceship racing simulator, a good pilot, so Juan thought that Davy would act as the Hegemon’s operator in the Dublin’s asteroid field till the ship would reach the London jump hole. The idea of a group of junkers hijacking a whole mining ship full of gold sounded silly at first time but BAF raised the taxes enormously 2 days ago, for some military project they said, so families like Jones wouldn’t be able to pay them so there was a risk of deportation from Bretonia. There was no other way in this unpleasant situation than just accept Juan’s offer and join the ‘Job of the lifetime’.
*From Davy’s e-diary*
“After everyone was ready and hidden in Dublin’s asteroid field we had to wait until the last police supply ship left the mining ship for 10 hours. The cover of gold and rock asteroids in the field in Dublin worked just perfect and jammed the police ship’s as well as the mining ship’s sensors from detecting our CSF. Just after the police left the scanner range we started our operation and using our small combat service freighter quickly moored to the Hegemon undetected. Juan’s brother Tony, who was an engineer of ships electronic systems, broke the alarm system as soon as we broke into the ore keeping bay so we could safely get into ship’s control room undetected and neutralize the mining crew, several droids responsible for control of the mining ship, using an EMP blaster made by Tony last month. As soon as we were done, I stepped in front of the control pad, activated flight mode and started the cruise engine. Juan’s gang cheered. I was no less happy than them knowing that we’re rich at last. Now we just needed to escape to Trafalgar unnoticed.”
Davy nicely sailed through the asteroid field towards the New London jump hole when others kept checking sensors for police patrols. Everything seemed alright but as we soon realized, Tony forgot to turn off one of the mining droids. “Dam it! That droid is still on! Tony! Disable it while it didn’t send the mayday signal to the cops!” – Juan yelled. The engineer Tony did the job quickly and disabled the droid but it was too late because the jump was initiated. As soon as the Hegemon flew out of the jump hole in New London all Davy’s crew saw 10 police fighters and a gunboat in front of their ship through the control room’s window. There was nowhere to run. “We’re screwed…” – these were the last Juan’s words before the police broke into the Hegemon’s control room and took all the Juan’s gang and Davy to their ships. “You’re under arrest! All you will tell will be used against you in the court…” – one of the officers said. But Davy didn’t listen. He was only thinking about his mother left in Trafalgar unable to earn enough money to pay the taxes without her son. All he and his friends were seeing was just walls of one of the police ship’s cargo hold. None knew where the police were taking them.
