A small woman is sat in a booth at the back of the bar, not drinking anything, a hood over her head as to cover her face. She sits almost completely still, moving only to shuffle the cloak she wears to attempt to cover more of her. She sits in the most shadowy part of the bar. Her intended visitor yet to arrive. She waits to see if he will show up. The one her contact said was part of the Black Dragon higher ups.
Katsu Mori was ruminating extensively in the comfortable leather chair, behind his purely mahogany desk aboard the Buuru. He was one of the youngest people in the Black Dragons Society to be be given the position of So-Honbucho. While the Kumicho was away, handling very important diplomatic relations and contract, Mori was burdened with supervising internal affairs that might affect the Hogosha. Right now he was he was on his way to planet New Tokyo for a secret meeting.
"Who was she?", Mori asked himself.
His informer had only given him very scarce information about this meeting. In actuality, Mori was only familiar with the time and place of the rendezvous, the gender of the person in question, and the fact that she had something important to discuss and, most likely, to offer. Mori was interested in offers of any kind that might prove beneficial for the Hogosha. However, he despised the fact that he was playing in the dark. Out of everything, the So-Honbucho hated to feel insecure. His hot-headed temper would not tolerate such factor. What if it was a trap? He had a lot of enemies both in the legal and not so legal institutions of Kusari. The Blood Dragons especially wanted his head, since he proved instrumental for the removal of several important Togo-class battleship captains out of the war scene in Kusari.
While the Buuru was landing Mori was franticly calculating every aspect of the situation. When he arrived at the doors of the low-class bar, he ordered his guards to take positions at every exit and not to let anyone get in. Although there might be an ambush set on the inside, he did not want to draw any excessive attention on the meeting. Besides, he was more than ready to test out his new laser-pistol on any fool that had the guts to confront him.
"This better be worth it.", Mori sighed as he was entering the bar
He was suddenly engulfed in darkness, as well as the stench of poorly distilled sake. Once his eyes got used to seeing through the dim, smoke-infused, dark-reddish atmosphere, he turned his gaze towards a small compartment at the back of the bar. There was a tiny, hooded figure sitting alone, while turning her head every once in a while in different directions, as if she was expecting someone. Mori moved closer to the person and uttered a neutral
Mori instinctively reaches towards his belt where he kept his gun, loaded and ready for action. The sudden move of the woman surprised him. When he made sure that no threats were around, and the object in her hand was something like a letter or a tarnished piece of paper, he let go of the trigger.
Mori confronted the undaunted look of the woman, with the one of confidence and calmness.
Please excuse my manners, one can never be too careful these days, especially at places like this...
My guess is that you have to offer something, hai? And maybe request something else in return from the Black Dragons?
The woman giggles a little at the sudden suspicion and then relaxation of the man. She continues to draw out a tarnished envelope with a Kempetai insignia on it. Top Secret written across the top.
"This is not an offer, nor a deal. Merely me hoping that the Black Dragons will understand. Take this, read it. Tell no-one but those you trust to do the right thing."
She hands the document to the man and awaits his surely confused response to all of this.
An expression of disappointment appears on Mori's face. He was expecting a profitable deal or something similar. However, he was still intrigued by this woman, who purposefully wished to remain anonymous, and by the top-secret message that she handed to him. He opened the envelope and began to read. The pupils of his eyes widened and his heart rate increased significantly. Those lines contained information that had the power to change the future of the Kusari nation. As he raised his head from disbelief, seeking the woman's confirmation of this info, his trained senses had noticed something.
A sudden flash of light was caught by his eyesight. It wouldn't have been that disturbing, but the flash illuminated one of the bar lights so brightly...very few metals had qualities to reflect light in such a way. The realization hit Mori with such a force, that he was already issuing orders to the microphone hidden under his cloak.
Yamakashi, get your men inside! Now!
Several men, that were drinking sake just a moment ago, got on their feet and took out newly sharpened katanas, no doubt the source of the flash.
Ambush! Yamakashi, fire on sight, let none survive!
Yamakshi and his men stormed the interior of the bar, taking out every single of the hooded men before they could get anywhere near the So-Honbucho. The whole thing was over in a few seconds. The room of the bar was obliterated in typical Hogoshan manner. Mori could care less about the civilians that perished in the cross-fire. They were witnesses and actually, how can he be sure which person is a civilian and which is an assassin?
You were tracked!, Mori yelled at the woman while turning his head towards the place where she should have been sitting. You lead them straight to...
But there was no one there. The mysterious woman had vanished during the chaos of the gun fire.
"She is smart...and elusive at that", Mori thought to himself.
He looked at the piece of paper in his hand and thought that surely she was not the reason for this set up. He calmed his feelings and realized that she is capable and resourceful enough to look after herself. Mori's thoughts were interrupted by the report of his top man..
Yamakashi: Mori-sama, the bodies belong to mercenaries. I have my connections within the Kusari mercenary organization and all of these men are the Naval Forces' prime choice, when it comes to eliminating an important target. What are your orders, sir?
The KNF?! Blasted!
Mori looks at the paper slip again with a frightened look
Looks like there is something true to this as I feared...
Yamakashi-kun, burn this place down, destroy all evidence! We are out of here...
