Finally, these repairs took far too long, now maybe we can get out of here
A man stood up from a side panel in the squashed cockpit, stretching up and promptly hitting his head against the roof.
"Argh Wilde breath!"
A robot came walking through the door at pace, "Is something wrong sir?"
The robot, standing 6 feet tall, had to crouch in this low space but that did nothing to dissuade how intimidating it was. Armed from top to bottom with a vast array of weaponry, going from his shoulder mounted blasters to the small missiles attached to his arm and finishing with a fearsome blade in his hands, all of which were already active for use, with the chain blaster giving out a faint whirring sound as the barrels span.
All of this ontop of a jet black shell with red streaks across it, seeming more like ripped flesh than simple paint.
The man turned to look at the robot.
"No no, just hit my head again."
"Very well sir"
The robot's various weaponry disengaged and switched off, leaving only the breathing of the man and the rumblings of the engine.
Now, lets see if we can get off this rock
"Prepare for take off"
"Do you wish for me to fly sir?"
"No, I think I'll take her this time"
With that he leaped into the central pilot seat and strapped himself in. After pressing a few buttons the cockpit started to give off various beeps and the engine rumbled louder. Flicking a few switches, the ship lifted slightly up.
"All lights are green sir"
"Oh good, let's get going then"
The small ship lifted off the asteroid it had been perched on. Hitting some more buttons, it pushed forward and cleared the asteroid completely, opening the cockpit view to the rest of the field. Thousands of rocks slowly drifted in a peaceful fashion, till two collided and released whatever gas they had inside them, blowing them both to pieces.
This view never does get old
The man looked around his cockpit again, searching for something. After a few seconds he found what he was looking for, a datapad.
"Welcome to MYspaceAid, your data is being downloaded presently"
The otherwise dull blue screen flashed with pictures and snippits of video before finally settling on a menu of sorts. The man lightly tapped the Neurel Net information link and watched as the screen slowly faded to come back with a short listing of his general information.
The last bit of information stood out more so than the others. The man set the datapad down, closed his eyes and slowly rubbed his weary face.
Only 187 credits. That robot alone was 2,000 and I've yet to even use it properly. I really do need something to get me some credits quick, or the rest will probably tear my ship apart when I'm not looking
The main control panel gave out a loud beeping sound.
"Hm now what is this"
The scanner showed a small dot getting closer, slowly but surely. Davik spun the ship around with the thrusters and at first couldn't see anything.
"Where the hell are you.."
The scanner let out a hurried series of beeps. Davik looked at it and couldn't believe his eyes.
Dozens, if not at least a hundred, dots had just appeared on the scanner, all seemingly chasing the single one. Unfortunately it seemed to be losing the race, going far slower than the horde chasing it.
"Sir, I would advise you to look out ahead"
He looked up slightly, only to be too shocked to say anything. A Military cruiser was coming straight towards them. It had to pick it's way through the asteroids and so was the cause of the 'slow' dot on the scanner.
An even more impressive sight was the wave of ships following after it. All kinds of fighters and bombers were laying down a huge rain of fire onto the capital ship.
Davik had never seen something so striking since his capture long ago in Sigma 13.
As he thought this, the capital ship let loose a barrage of missiles, anihilating at least 17 of the pursuers, the large explosions lethal against such a dense pack of small ships, especially in an asteroid field where dodging the asteroids is a task on it's own.
That was not to be the end of it however and as the ships grew ever closer to Davik and his small light fighter, he could see wing after wing of bomber tearing past the capital ship, unloading torpedo after torpedo.
The cruisers shields suddenly failed, probably due to the sheer force of the onslaught.
When the next bomber wing passed the ship, the torpedos stuck hard into it, sending forth giant blooms of fire and wrent hull. Another wing sweeped past from directly behind the cruiser, loosing numberless numbers of torpedos into it's engines. At first nothing happened and Davik was surprised but then a massive explosion tore the engines apart, taking a large chunk out of the cruisers main body as well.
It now was openly venting atmosphere with what looked like the bite of a monster having ripped half the ship away. 3 bomber wings lined up behind it and unleashed load upon load of torpedos towards the open half of the ship. When they struck, the ship lit up. The bridge was blown to pieces from the inside, as was most of the ship.
Metal, cargo, people. All were flung afar in the ending explosion that finally finished the ship.
The pursuers seemed exstatic, firing their weapons wildly into space while some went about collecting what they could salvage.
It was only then that the horde noticed the lone ship sitting not far off.
