Is there a way to turn off gif avatars?

I want to save bandwith and speed up browsing, I know about Lo Fi mode, but that seems to be going too far for me. If there's no way to be so specific, is there a way to just turn off all sigs and avatars without going into lo fi mode?

Another option for Firefox is to install the "Adblock Plus" add-on. However, that requires you to see each .gif and then block them manually since they're likely to be hosted at different urls.

Thanks guys, I used board settings to just turn off avis and sigs, its a shame, cos I wanted to keep simple picture avis, and text sigs, but there wasnt an option for that.
