Would be nice to see them around, but it would be very annoying if they are red to you:P-and you're on your transport e.g.

The dev team has already taken a few steps toward adding some variety to the NPC patrols. I imagine they'll expand upon that as new releases come out for Disco. More bomber patrols might get added, but actually, more bomber NPCs might do us more harm than good, if they're not "declawed" before getting added to the mod.
All NPCs seem to have an infinite powercore and uncanny aiming abilities. Give them SNACs as well, and they evolve from "minor nuisance" to "significant threat", even for smaller fighters, which isn't really what a lot of people want.
Gallia has bomber NPCs. Those bomber NPCs got their SNACs removed to make Gallia slightly less scary. That's fine by me. Some guard systems also have bomber NPCs. Those bomber NPCs still have their deadly-accurate SNACs, and make the guard systems more dangerous to traverse. That's also fine by me.
The bottom line is, be careful what you ask for. More bomber NPCs could be neat, but their loadouts would need to be tailored to their environments.

Bomber NPCs would be nice, along with any variety in general, but as said before balancing is an interesting issue.
For example, in 4.85 I undocked my UAU VIII Ahoudori from Montbard as it was getting attacked by a GRN bomber swarm. I had 1/3 hull left by the time I could react out of the undocking animation....so yeah, it was a bit brutal. (no claims here to having great reactions)
Maybe give NPCs Novas or SNACs with larger cooldowns?
Bomber NPCs won't be added outside guard systems with SNACs or standard Bomber weaponry. Those weapons are balanced for players, not for NPCs. NPCs have leve 1-9 guns to use, and we can choose what to have to keep them challenging, yet not intrusive and able to turn the tide of player fights. Bombers would not only turn the tides, but turn a loan VHF facing two GBs into a gloating VHF picking his way through two GB's broken and destroyed wreckage for loot.
Any bomber NPCs will have fighter weaponry, not bomber, and would not have SNACs of any forms. Likely, they'd get an NPC-only type of Nova that doesn't have the area of effect explosion and significantly less damage. They'd be NPCs that could actually challenge a capship, but wouldn't decimate fighters and bombers. SNACs on NPCs would create that kind of situation.
And yes, NPCs have infinite powercore. If they are equipped without one, it creates problems.
