Scrap Mining

Hello, just a quick question... is scrap mining deactivated or bugged somehow ... i just made an ALG char with a Golem... and I am not able to get any scrap metal out of scrap fields with it.

If the field is not giving out any ore, there are a few possibilities:
-You are not in the field. The field is basically a sphere, so if you are above or below the plane, you can appear in the circle but not be in the field. Set a waypoint in the field and head for it, if in doubt.
-You are not capable of mining the ore. Check if you have the appropriate ID, IFF, ship and turret. Check that you're shooting the rocks with the mining turrets, not with normal guns.
-The field isn't active. Some fields will show up yellow but do not drop any kind of ore.
-The field is mined out. As people mine the field's yield slowly decreases. If it decreases too much the field will simply shut down and not give any ore.
-You have another ship selected, and you are filling it, instead of your own hold. Unselect the ship you have selected (default key: CTRL-T)

The basics. Golem with ALG ID,and Tag. Mining turrets, and a field ALG gets a bonus on. That is first thing to look at. If still no scrap? try a new field, as you may be in an old field no longer minable, or just not in proper place. IE above/below plane .

New berlin, next the the ALG base (yes, i looked up where there is the field:))
Also i tried texas system, the 2 radiated areas.

Yes, i have full ALG rep with affilation to this faction, i have golem and ALG ID.

Now I tried South Hampton debris field in New London... also not working.

Have scrap fields all been deactivated? I mean, yeah, I know its not the most profitable mining commodity, but still...

again: full ALG rep, mining ship + mining lasers.... and i dont get a single (!) unit of scrap or premium scrap.

I remember that some time ago you could mine debris with a laser cannon and a starflea...

Admins? Anyone? I am getting a bit worried I bought the golem for nothing. I really do not want to trade with this thing.

Afaik there are only a few mine-able scrap fields left. However I will warn you that scrap and waste mining aren't the most profitable venture for ALG ships currently. I think the Sigma-13 field is still active so try there. And there will be new fields in .87.

As for New Berlin I think that one dried up a long time ago. Strange that New London didn't give you anything. If you want to check to see if its an issue with your ship you could jump into Leeds and try one of the smog clouds for Waste mining.

I am surprised he got no Prem scrap in Texas. I get lots there .Maybe he has a bug somewhere in his install. Or as mentioned. Mining turrets.

No no, I have mining turrets. The whole deal to mine, I am however just getting a few units of scrap an then its over... no more scrap for me.

I am not really mining for profit, its more about the RP... so dont worry about that aspect:)

Hmm, I got the install from a friend of mine since ... but what could be wrong with it? I mean, apart from the mining everything is working just fine.
