So as many know the corsair Arwing has some "small" problems.

Sometimes following bugs appear, they can sometimes be fixed by rebooting the computer, but there is no telling when they come back.

1. Randomly your guns disappear.
Nobody around can see what guns do you have mounted. Nobody can see or hear your shots.

2. CDs and missiles doesn't work
If you hit the firing key you hear the sound and loose the ammo but nothing happens.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is unfair to both the enemy and the users of this ship. For this reasons already 4 months ago some Corsairs decided to use Civilian ship - The Tigershark

Infocard:

The Tiger Shark is one of the best fighter ships currently available for civilians in The Border Worlds. This Light fighter is relatively expensive for its class, but its unmatched power, agility, and reliability are well enough to compensate the price. Built by Rhienland corporations the Tiger Shark is a popular choice for rich freelancers from all Sirius houses.

Sold on: IMG base - IMG is neutral to Corsairs, the IMG player faction(CR) is allied with corsair faction(TBH).

Some corsairs even asked officially to get the ship:

Comparison of Tigershark vs Arwing in stats:

Tigershark
Guns: 2x Class 8, 2x Class 9
Powerplant: 8000/800
Armor: 5 600
bats/bots: 36/36
turning rate (Flstat number): 1.6

Arwing
Guns: 2x Class 8, 2x Class 9
Powerplant: 8000/800
Armor: 5 500
bats/bots: 36/36
turning rate (Flstat number): 1.533

All guns on Arwing are placed much more closer together so it's a better aiming platform.
-----------------
Subjective: I can't tell any difference between flying both ships. Neither can I see any difference in size.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conlusion
These ships are almost exactly identical, there is nothing extra to be gained from using one of them instead of the other.

Since they are the same you can in RP look on it as if Corsairs are flying the Arwing while you see Tigershark.

If we take a look on the civilian aspect then:
1. As Gronath pointed out to me: who would protect "civilian" ships from being sold to anybody?

2. Half the NPC pirate factions on the server use the civilian line of ships (Eagle, Hawk, Starblazer...)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the community consensus and admin opinion on this?

(Please no flaming, serious reasons why yes/no).

-------------------------------
EDIT: oopps global posted about the same... is it possible to merge the threads?

I say just use the Tiger Sharks. No reason not to...

Yes, yes, yes. They should be allowed. I see ABSOLUTELY no reason not to. There is an RP reason (alliance between Corsairs and CR), and there is a balance issue regarding both of the Corsairs' light fighters. Also, I see absolutely no reason why anyone should be restricted from using civilian vessels. They are likely readily available on the black market, and easy to build and service.

Well if the Tigershark is only a stop-gap measure until Arwing is fixed, then I can't see a problem.

It's beginning to look like one rule for Corsairs and one rule for everyone else... it all started with those bloody Tizzy shieldbusters, everyone bitching about how lucky the Corsairs were. Now every man and his dog can get the Civvy one. Now it's de-ja-vu all over again with the tigershark, although in this case the Corsairs have only ever had crappy ships.

(BTW I looked at the sanction which sparked this thread.... Corsairs using Civvy busters? I mean, come on guys, that's just stretching it just a tad.....)

Somehow it is.. but I'm trying to keep those things separate... the lvl 8 shieldbusters give Corsairs something that they don't have otherwise.

Tigershark doesn't.

I've made a poll for this. Please continue to post here, however.

Just a little note:
OPG used to use Arwing, we got flamed, we ACTUALLY got flamed for using a bugged ship, saying it was unfair to use it, that we were abusing a bug. So we switched to the Tiger Shark, as soon as the decurion or arwing is fixed we're switching back, but there's an obvious, VERY obvious reason the Corsairs are ditching the arwing the way it is now...

Not surprised.

So, apparently you're expected to sit and take flames for staying in RP. Welcome to the Keepers, your badge and back armor will arrive within two weeks.

ANYWAY, theoretically pirates aren't on good terms with civilians. Or Zoners, according to this. Other than that, I can't see any reason not to use them, its a slight RP sacrifice for being a non-arse hole to your opponent... plus, it isn't like flying an Arwing is exactly in the spirit of RP anyway, *cough* Starfox *cough*.

...digging, .....digging, .....knock knock. Ahhhhhh

I was wondering, when i came back and used my Tigershark the first time, someone was telling me its forbidden. Now i was looking for and found the sanction thread. Since it is closed i will post my opinion here.

No comments to weapons. 1 Tizona, 1 Salamanca II and 2 Salamanca I are doing the job well (at least for me, who don't like missiles and mines). A LF isn't a Battleship. Numbers and tactics are the keywords.

Now to the sanction. No player of OC alliance side was sanctioned to use ships of their allies, but common sense of the community convinced them to stay with their own. Well, common sense of the community allowed Corsairs to stay with the Tigershark until Arwing is fixed and/or Decurion is becomming better, but Corsairs get sanctioned for to use a civilian fighter sold by close friends/allies.
I wonder, will a BMM player be sanctioned when using the Tigershark?

Just my opinion and no offense to admins.

Nevertheless i will take a Decurion now. Maybe there is something good with it, we did not figured out yet.
