Defense platforms

I dunno if I'm just slower than the rest of you, but it never struck my mind that the weapons platforms built before the last updates had been downgraded. Until today, I was 100% sure that I had the BS guns on mine, but it turns out that I don't. :nono: Since they don't exactly build themselves, I'm a bit disappointed over this. Time, money and effort right down the crapper.

I sure would like an explanation to all this! :rtfm: Why the hell weren't we allowed to decide which type we wanted? If I'd known this was going to happen, I would definetly have waited.

Update 5 platforms were not OP, but they got nerfed anyway to make way for the new platforms (after all, who would change if they werent vastly underpowered?).

Just by a month or so... or was it more? :S

We all feel your pain and we all said the same thing when it happened...
At least your base wasn't "under siege" during the change over...

Hell, we even role-played than an Ion storm came along and our weapon platforms
magically changed,... the same damn ion storm caused us all to forget how to build
the previous weapon platforms...

Anyway, matter of fact is, the ship has sailed.... If they now chose to "retro" Mk1's to be Mk2's
they would just anger even more people who have since destroyed their Mk1's and replaced them
with Mk2's

I always suspected there was something wrong with me!:D

I almost figured it was too late to do something about it, but I'd like to know if this was an absolute necessary change to make, or if someone just did it to troll. I simply can't see a good reason behind this!

Unless you're making a deathstar, when it comes to bases the best offense is a good defense. Just build cargo mods and fill them with reps, and you'll just outtank their damage.

I've told folk time and again that the loadout for the first batch of defense platforms was the wrong one and would be switched over. It did. If you want longrange ones, you'll have to rebuild them to the longrange type now.

Things will stay as it is. That you're unable or unwilling to keep up with devnotes on a new, and still being developed, part of the mod is not my problem.
