So I haven't played since 2.45 era (about 2 years ago), and I wanted to know, have all characters been wiped with the new update?
FYI, I'm no stranger to the account ID. I already made that mistake once (reinstalled the game and forgot to save the ID, lost all my chars).
I'm not a slow person, I did the smart thing and wrote it down the second time. And no, before you ask, there is no typo in the number. I opened "myflaccountid.hta" from "Freelancer\EXE\", I copy (cntrl-c) and pasted (cntrl-v) into a plain text document and uploaded it to a filehosting site. It has sat there, untouched and unmodified for the duration since I installed it the second time, several years by my estimation. After I installed Freelancer and Discovery 2.46 again today, I wrote down the number on a paper and entered the saved account ID. No characters were listed in the roster.
I checked again (opening myflaccountid.hta), using the account ID I still have on the filehosting website. It is exactly the same, there is no typo. This is exactly the code I had when I previously played, of that there is no doubt.
There is inactivity whip. All characters that haven't been logged for 6 months are deleted, back then it was 3 months. At any rate, 2 years is more than both so they've been automatically deleted - and before you ask, no they can't be restored.
Sorry if it sound a bit harsh just trying to be as brief as possible.

Nono, I appreciate the accurate and direct response.
Well good to know, that makes a lot of sense, thanks.
