Firstly, Kudos to the Hacker scimmy that interacted with my Bison outside Baltimore earlier today, which also reminded me of this problem
The Bison's shield hardpoint has got to be one of the easiest to subtarget and destroy. Has happened to me twice now and was just curious as to whether this is part of the balance or something that's been overlooked.
Once more people figure out how to do it I fear that the norm will be for my Bison to be told to stand still, get deshielded and then have my shield removed entirely.
So should the Bison have it's shield hardpoint moved inside the hitbox or is it part of the balance of the ship to have it easily destructible?
All shield hardpoints should be external so the shieldgen can be directly targeted. It's one of the things I'm working on on the model side. It's not uncommon - other ships have this as well (PTrans loses it's shieldgen after a few novas).
