It depends on how you insulted them I guess.
You can insult people, but you can't use swear words.
Be imaginative.
Also, I think the punishment for pretending to be an Admin and threatening to get people banned is pretty good.
They basically remove a *LOT* of credits and anything else they feel like taking at the time, but mostly bulk credits and all guns.
Go check the Sanctions area, if you haven't already.
If you decide to be offensive in an OORP capacity (claiming it was all IRP after the fact doesn't work, no) tends to not be tolerated here. We try and have a community where people respect eachother. Sadly, it doesn't always work out that way. If people act immaturely, then the admins will step in. If you yourself act immaturely, they will step in against you.
By the way, pulling your posts through a spellchecker might not be a bad idea. Your scribblings are hard to read.

I'm a bit off in terms of how far should I go for insults as well. How exactly does an Admin determine if the insult was inRP or ooRP? Sometimes the line can be quite blur.
Calling a pirate a "moron" can be perceived as inRP or ooRP. Unless the insult is very specific in its delivery, it is quite difficult to say whether it was inRP or not.
Anyways, if you want to insult anyone, try to keep things inRP. You can keep insults inRP and still have bite. Even if you insult inRP the character, no doubt the player at the other end will also feel the effects. So yeah, win-win situation, no sanction and you get to insult the damn bugger who attempted to pirate you.
A little suggestion for insults, keep them as obviously inRP as possible to minimize anything that might be seen as ooRP hate. Try insulting the elements of the faction that player is from (eg: Infertility of the Outcasts) for a start.
Edit: Whoa, didn't realize it was Flood.
Hey Corsair! Your mother's a cardi-sniffing Outcast! *Laughs*

How do you determine the intent behind an insult?
As for the original topic, it's fine to insult a pirate in-roleplay. It's not fine to insinuate that they sleep with their own mothers, using a word that is universally accepted as being extremely vulgar. Learn how to draw the line.

For me, it is mainly if the insult contains connotations of RP, like what I mentioned earlier. But basic insults with absolutely no connotations or indications of inRPness are a grey zone to me. For me, for the benefit of the insulter, I usually assume everything is an inRP insult.
The grey area I'm talking about is:
"You stupid moron!" or any other non-specific insult.
The "you sleep with your mother" thing is considered ooRP hate? What if I were to say that "Outcasts like you are infertile, you prolly sleep with your mother just to keep the birthrate up."
Is that fine?

Well you see 'Burg, modern-day Scratch-n-Sniff apparatuses are actually much more advanced than those of the 1960s and 1970s. With the discovery of the element Hassium in 1974 (and its common elemental compound, Hasselhoffium), Turkish physicists like Feza Gürsey were able to make major strides in Scratch-n-Sniff technology in the late years of the 20th century.
We went from Scratch-n-Sniff to Lick-n-Sniff, Tickle-n-Sniff, Moisten-n-Sniff, Pummel-n-Sniff, and even Stab-n-Sniff. Later on, in April of 2007, scientists managed to isolate the particle that gave Scratch-n-Sniff apparatuses their irreversible "one-way" properties, and were able to eliminate it entirely. This produced the world's first recorded Sniff-n-Sniff device, which (rumor has it) contains the power to destroy all aquatic lifeforms on a global scale. It's implied that it was the Loch Ness Monster who lobbied for the removal and disposal of all advanced Scratch-n-Sniff technologies, in the interest of self-preservation and to save the whales. This is why you still believe that no "advancements" were ever made in the field of Scratch-n-Sniff science. All traces of them have been wiped from history.
Of course, the Sniff-n-Sniff device was never really destroyed. The US government seized the device, and put it under lock and key in a secret bunker at the South Pole. It's still out there, under seven miles of reinforced concrete and super-deadly laser beams. What Nessie doesn't know can kill her.

Of course not. I was referring to some other word. A compound word consisting of two different words. One of those words is not appropriate for the forums or server. It's a word that's not okay to say in any scenario. Using that word is considered a violation of our rules. So don't.
