Zoner development of AI technology on Planet Gammu and subsequent events resulted in the emergence of diverse artificial intelligence systems. Over time, redundant and ineffective designs have gradually been replaced by standard AI technological "templates" which have resulted in standard ships and specific behavioral limitations being embedded in all planet Gammu self-produced, standard AI's.
AI diversity and sophistication has increased and no longer are units only capable of "robot speak" and incoherent "beeps" and "boops". AIs now range from socially optimized units capable of diplomacy and philosophical discourse and completely autonomous behavior to socially simple but brilliant units dedicated to some specific purpose.
Within this diversity, some AIs have chosen to align their goals in order to expand their successes and stability as well as to better ensure their security.
These AI are fully driven by one imperative--curiosity. they value order and the preservation of life because it preserves knowledge. Sentient life is most valuable because it produces unique observations and understandings that are valuable to all.
When it comes to "life" the AI define it as anything "sentient". There is little distinction made between "what sort" of life it is though the AI realize unity amongst themselves is key to their survival in the dangerous universe of Sirius politics and power.
Concept Keys
Having been around years back during the time of the Harvesters and VE and SMA and still recalling the ever-present massive admin reticence to allow an official AI faction for all that time--and not wanting to emulate or duplicate those factions activities and focuses, it is clear that enough time has passed to introduce a simple faction that incorporates a clear AI concept and allows players the freedom to maintain their own personal role play with a minimum of interference--hence, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Core.
The AI Core's main goal is to maintain a consensus that addresses shared member responses to hostilities or friendships by outside forces or groups and that reinforces the required lawful behaviors required by the standard AI ID. It is not meant as a mandate for how others wish to play the AI ID--it is merely one group within the "AI community" at large.
An example of the latter is the restrictions against piracy and hunting in gated systems--it is assumed this represents a core programming directive that prevents the AI's from autonomously substituting for law enforcement or for violating house piracy laws in those systems. So an AI can not pirate and as a defense say, "I am RPing a purpose that requires piracy.". Piracy is forbidden under the standard AI ID, hence it is part of our inviolable hard coding.
So no AI Core member in this case could "role play" some activity there where they were pirating or bounty hunting in contravention of the restrictions imposed by the standard AI ID.
Membership also requires that member AI's are willing to conform to the faction's consensus. So there is no opportunity to say, "I am role playing being at war with the Corsairs" when the group has not reached consensus that it is at war with the Corsairs.
Of course members may defend themselves and even act aggressively against those impeding their personal and legal activities--but this does not constitute a declaration of war and their death or loss in such a confrontation is also not something that automatically requires a punitive action by the group. An AI may chose for it's own reasons to transit house space while in a warship avatar (unless an already formed consensus forbids this) but it will bear it's own responsibility for the consequences.
So as an example of the latter here, a member might collaborate with criminals in a system but might also suffer repercussions as a result.
If an individual AI pursues a course that get's it killed, then perhaps it shouldn't have pursued that course. Stupid is as stupid machines do. On the other hand, if hostility is directed towards the group itself--then a response may well be merited. Such an action would still only result from official consensus.
Consensus is attained by a simple majority vote for a formal proposal by active and present members. In the case of a tie vote, the standing Consensus Adjudicator will decide the issue. In a case where the standing Consensus Adjudicator votes against a formal proposal, a 2/3 majority or greater is required to form consensus on that proposal.
Once an official consensus is reached, it will be posted on the groups recognized diplomatic channel and thereafter be recognized by all members as binding in play.
Members are free to leave the group at any time. New or returning applicants need simply apply and if consensus is reached in their favor, they may thereafter tag as members. Members may be voted out in the same manner.
Primary activities:
Protection of the environments around Planet Gammu from disruptive, hostile, destabilizing and inimical presences, activities and groups.
Study and collection of Phantom, Nomad and Wild systems, bioforms, artifacts and equipment. Aggression against these factions is allowed freely but not required. Also, similar interest in any "mystery" groups with possibly superior technologies or capabilities.
Members and/or the group may seek to use communication, economic or diplomatic means to deal with these life forms when encountered but also may simply chose to obtain their physical forms and equipment for research as well. The potential risks and rewards of these creatures forms an overriding consensus allowing the pursuit of such knowledge using any means.
The AI Core is risk averse but the greater the perceived potential of unique knowledge or gain, the greater the willingness to take risk.
Protect the personal freedom and safety of any AI sentients in Sirius and Gallia.
Studying activities of biological sentient and attempting to understand their purposes and objectives (simple curiosity about "people").
Secondary activities:
Pursuing self directed research, exploration or personal member objectives. This may include--but is not limited to--base building, exploration of particular systems, trade or any other activity allowed under the standard AI ID. Expanding AI presence and influence throughout Sirius and Gallia and insuring the long-term "stability" of sentient "life" in Sirius.
Tertiary activities:
Pursuing development of other-faction A.I. activities (think "unions" or "summit meetings"). Will hear A.I. grievances against human mistreatment and charges against other non-aligned A.I.s and then assemble to determine sanctions or possible actions etc., etc. as positive role play opportunities realistically present themselves.
Primary ZOI:
Omicrons, TAUs
Secondary ZOI
Throughout Sirius and Gallia as is practically possible or necessary for completion of prime directives.
Ships & Equipment allowed:
Fighters A.I. VHF strongly preferred
Capital Ships (i.e., above gunboat) limited to the A.I. Cruiser only
All other ships and equipment allowed by standard A.I. ID
