If you take a second to think about it, there's no reason for Disco to provide a practice bin for people. Anything you wanna learn about mybb can be learned on your own by clicking on the mybb links at the bottom of the page & you will gain experience over time just as everyone else does.
I understand you want it, but you simply don't need it.
I'm currently writting a api for the discovery forum so I can post stuff from other applications.
However, this "post generator" could be cut so it would only generate forum posts and the user has to post it on his own. But this kind of semi-automatism wasn't planned.
It's not necessary to have a practice bin, but this would fasten stuff up.
However, if you don't see a reason to provide something, I'll try to get my experience on other forums or if I'm not too lazy I setup my own test forum, meh.
Keep in mind that I not on staff anymore & I'm just speaking from experience. My word isn't gospel or anything...I'm just speaking from the perspective that if the staff allows it for one, they would have to allow it for all...& ultimately, that's just far too much work & hassle to implement across the board than it's worth.
You can look at how everything looks in a post by using the Preview option - that should be enough unless you are thinking of something that you need more than one stage of posting to carry out...

Ahh I see, you're not anymore on staff. Anyway, I've considered you response as possible answer of the staff, because you know them better than me.
As for the idea as whole, I just saw, I've the option to delete my own threads as user, this might be helpfull, if it works. So don't have to setup an own test area; I can clean my test threads/posts and noone would have problems with it.
[Edit]
Ok, post deletion doesn't work...

Yeah, I know that. But that's not how api-devoloping works. The content of a post isn't a problem. And I wouldn't have asked for this. The problem was more the post/thread generation.
