Mr Nick Nack has informed me that you wanted to contact the Lane Hacker Professorship to discuss "a deal that would be in our interests". Having in mind recent events, I believe I know exactly what sort of a deal you wish to propose us. However, I am afraid that if you had proposed such an arrangement, I would have to decline.

Since employers of the Platinum Inc have never really shown arrogance and disrespect so typical for other Liberty-based corporations, I will indulge your curiosity by explaining rationale behind such a decision. Platinum Inc, as a branch of Deep Space Engineering, which is one of "the Big Three", is a part of Liberty's corporate oligarchy. As such, you're one of the bones of the corrupt government and a system of oppression. I hope I don't need to remind you that the mission of the Lane Hackers is to fight this system.

I am fully aware that you have managed to strike a deal with Lord Moka. Unfortunately, our dear allies are not always making the brightest decisions. For a monopolist such as yourself cost prediction is even more important than a cost reduction. All additional, but anticipated costs are simply shifted onto your buyers, that is, corporations shipping platinum ore. In turn, they shift these additional costs onto their own clients. In the end it is the common citizen who pays the increased price of a product. If we have extorted you in this way, in fact, we would have extorted common people, people who we fight for. This is unacceptable.

I hope that now you fully understand why there can be no arrangement of this sort between us.
