Issue is, how do you make noms able to survive without making a coordinated group of them undefeatable. Purple troll squad = do not want, as far as I'm concerned. But that's a discussion for another topic. Issue here is long range jump gates, point to point.
Technically, there is no reason why this could not be done. Jump gates and holes can be set up to connect any two systems over any distance. It will however completely screw over the economy, and make borderworld piracy pointless as transports will largely stick to house space. It will change the layout of Sirius from a mesh type network to a mostly star type network, with a few central nodes (prolly the house capitols). That fundamentally changes the layout of the galaxy, and the question is, will that benefit gameplay or harm it instead?

at the moment, the economy is screwed over due to jumptrading. this is an attempt to bring back trading in some format.
i don't think the jump gates should be in the capital systems, but in systems like texas/colorado/california.
if we had a dynamic economy, the buy prices for commodities in the borderworlds would rise and fall in the capital systems. as it is, we have to do it manually. rather than raising the price in the borderworlds, drop the prices in the capital systems, to reflect the ease of transportation.
the purple troll squad problem is easy to fix:
take away their guns, and make them indestructible. give them fuel-less cloaks and ships that heal themselves, and make them as fast as the camera ship. zoom around sirius, infecting people to do the shooting for them. this is what they did in the first two 'acts' of the campaign, and IMHO, what they should be doing now.
a prolonged war is unsustainable, player-base wise. for example, kusarian player activity has always been low, and when they had nice shiny toys and someone to shoot, it rose for a while. now.... there's rarely ever a player in there, and if you find one, its usually a pirate.
I didnt say there were no players, i said i'd not seen any in a while. i used to see lots of them as i bumbled around in the lonelicrons, but sadly none any more.
i do think is a good idea however i would like if some of the following condition would apply: >enter/exit pointin the middle of sector[ex:New York system star collapsed and turn into a wormhole] >"transit point" *could be a border world system that has the distance between the next jumphole at least 100 k away ,maybe 200 k if the map doesn't allow more then that *since it's an unstable wormhole you're equipment might get destroyed at using the jh[not cargo] *you wont be able to jump near the jh with JD Mk.IV,maybe somewhere in the middle of the sector[or you die] so that pirate can bring guns to a shieldsless/gunless target *police/navy have "orders" not to enter this system and treat everyone that exit/enter as combat target or fine them with a big amount of credits
People want to believe that God has a plan for them.
They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..
