When I open the game and click new game, the game minimizes to the desktop, each and every time. I have tried re install, a few times, restarting, about 10 times, but nothing is helping. Can someone please help?
I think you might be trying to launch the original Freelancer, not Disco. I had the same problem- after installing the mod, the original game did not work anymore.

the link on my desktop says discovery freelancer. at first I was trying to use the original, but then I kinda realized that shouldn't work, so I went to the start menu, typed discovery freelancer, and then made a link for it on desktop... but no change
yes, I have only payed 4.85 and 4.86, and followed the read me // video, and they have worked on other computers and on my computer previously. It also was happening in the original, before I installed Discovery 4.86

Oh. In that case, does this issue only occur with Freelancer? And no other DirectX/OpenGL fullscreen games?
