Hello guys just a quick question. In single player you can target the components of an enemy ship (aka. wings, tail, fins, etc) and you can shoot them off and yours can be destroyed as well, how come in Multiplayer you can't shoot components off or your components can be damaged. I know guns and other various attachments can be damaged and destroyed but I am talking about actual ship parts here. Any explanation would be appreciated thank you!
Because if you come from places like Void, you will know that people used to shoot off components to reduce the size and increase the maneuverability of their ships.
Disco is already unbalanced enough, so we simply took that one nuance out of the equation.

Because since many ships can be used without ZOI restrictions, they have to be rebalanced against all ships and thus are weaker. In other words, there is no balance. Only balance within reason.

It was mainly done to level the playingfield. None of the custom ships have deformable models, so in order for the vanilla ships to react the same way to both missiles (deformable ships take extra damage when hit with explosives) and size (pieces shot off make a ship smaller and harder to hit) the whole ability to shoot pieces off of ships was taken out. On the capship side I'm trying to go the other way, setting all gunboats, transports and bigger up with a few components - this is mainly so that explosives will always hit them. Single component hitboxes tend to have trouble being hit by those (hull, not shield).

Ok I think I understand now. Although I must admit I do miss the feature. It just seemed to make things more realistic. But hell it isn't a deal breaker. Thanks for the replies!
