Well, maybe tone it down to a Assault Transport, useable for Zoners, GMG, and the Order, something for those that want a defencive ship. could have like 2 or 3 GB turrets, rest are transport turrets. that also means I would have to revise the hull, cargo, NB/SB, powercore is a maybe. But I do like LvM's argument, a nuetural cruiser could have benifits. Lets be reasonable with this, yeah 5 VHFs might do equal damage, but its range wise which is the question. A ship thats sturdy, able to rough-house, and still get to its destination. Also, its a Sci Fi Game, saying Civilians cant have cruisers is like saying a space station cant have defence turrets. And I understand the need for balance, but to be realistic, most pirates are using bombers and not real fighters. If this doesnt pass as a Civilian Cruiser, then it can be a bigger, better heavy armor transport.
First of all: stats, gunboat turrets yay or ney, affiliation etc. of the ship, these are decisions to be made by the dev. team.
On the model:
I like the "basic" design of the ship, looks like a more functional ship, also it's arrow-shape would allow it to easily fly through asteroid fields.
However, it's also the shape that's kind of giving me kind of belly-aches.
It's about est. 6-7 times as long as it is wide, and really flat. As such it seems as if the ship would hardly be hit-able if facing another cruiser/bs from the front, a position you would probably be in a lot, but then again, i guess that is again relying on the balance-teams decision.
Jorm for example has most firepower facing sideways.
Oh, and i like the huge engines (which are not included in the front view of the ship).
Its not the Devs that really deside the stats, its the matter of it being accepted and being put into the game. Open mind can lead to many possiblities, also Disco is 17 years after the original Freelancer, right? Then serious changes would have occured, meaning new tech and new ships, such as replacements for older ships. I mean, Jinx's train design is something actaully might be better, and in Scifi terms, more reasonable than the clumbsy "Sea Bird Line" transports, like the Gull.
Its a choice of the public that would make it possible. Alot of people like the ship, and a "Balanced Game" would mean that pirates wouldn't have access to Bombers, except the Hispanics and possibly the Junkers. If the game was balanced, ships would be to scale, like in Freeworld's ToW, planets would be larger than the are, and more than 2 bombers would be needed to take out a gunship, any gunship. I believe that the words "Balanced Gameplay" doesn't exist anymore in Disco. People still use the ship they want with the wrong ID and tech, people still go thru systems with restricted ships that are not unlawfulls, and most players are not willing to stick with the ordeal of actaully RPing, like those 3 idiots, Leech, IHAVESOMETHING, and that bogogog-whatever guy flying around Manhatten infront of LN.
The ship design is fine, the idea of a Indie Corp. Cruiser or Heavy Armor Transport is fine. I aim to try to appeal to the Civilian pilots, not to original corperation factions, not to the Navies, and not for Pirates. The other suggestion is that the Cruisers are sold at lawfull, and nuetural stations and the powercore dropped to 5% to compencate for weapons that are not Civilian/Zoner in origin, and 10% for not having a Civilian/Zoner ID.
The issue is the "foreign" aspect of the House Cruisers. It's not logical and would be ideal if there was a cruiser or cruiser-like vessel for civilians to use. For you, Xelon, your in BAF, and the idea of civilians having cruisers is something you think they don't need. Those that have factions, which are created from a group, that don't have their own custom ships, like the Hellfire Legion, would need something such as a Civilian Cruiser that isn't going to cause problems, political wise. And Hawk, seriously, Zoners already have 4 capitals, 4 is enough for most factions. Any attempt of saying, "It's to keep the game balanced" isn't a valid argument anymore with Disco. I've said it before in different context, Disco is not balanced or those pirates in bombers wouldnt be that big of a problem. Instead of saying that its not a good idea, look at it from another player's view point. Im one that flew a transport from alot of locations and once in a while, a pirate bombs me.
This is technically a attempt to give the civilian pilots a ship that they can use to really fight back with instead of the "Pay 10 million or else" jerks. Disco needs a change that would be for the everyday guy, not the top dogs. Most civilian ships have decent armor, but lack the true ability to repel attackers. And Gunship Turrets on a Civilian oriented cruiser isn't that ludicrous, the Salvager has gunship turrets, and its a transport. Since that ship is Junker oriented, something more aggressive for civilians is needed. I also reliese that if civilians have a cruiser, pirates will have harder times making a living, if so, tough love mate.
When civilians leaving governments they join Zoners and can use Corvo(or by other words, governments never let civilians use cruisers in masses). By RP(as far i've remember) Corvo was a civilian cruiser, but lately it's changed to exclusively Zoner rights.
The ship itself I do like, although as everything related to Homeworld universe. But it won't fit in disco.
