So, I'm a total noob on the server, but not to Freelancer.
I've just purchased a Rhino, and I'm getting the message that my tech is incompatible... why? Is this to intentionally punish newbies? Rhino is a starter ship right? And you've made it incompatible with the Freelancer ID? Seems to me that if any ship should be compatible it would be this one. And if there's any ship that doesn't need to be neutered it's this one, an already crummy ship has been made worse for those just starting out. Lovely.
What you're talking about is the technerf system which is there to ensure tech combinations are plausible in roleplay, and to punish combinations of ships/equipment/IDs that don't make sense in roleplay. (A rogue flying a liberty navy ship for example) It's not there to give any disadvantage to newcomers.
I honestly don't think the Rhino is nerfed on the Freelancer ID, so if you're still getting a reduced powercore, it probably has something to do with the equipment you're using - for example, make sure you're using civilian guns and not military ones!

Anything that shoots at me!

I've unmounted everything except the ID, and getting a 10% reduction.
I understand wanting to limit certain tech to certain ID's, sure. I just think that a noob ship is already at a huge disadvantage, and further nerfing it is uncalled for. Especially as it's most likely to be used by someone with a Freelancer ID ie noob.
Y'know, I can't find the Rhino on the chart at all. It should be Liberty civilian ship right? The only ones listed are
dsy_li_freighter, dsy_libsupertransport, dsy_liberty_b_transport, dsy_limk2_freighter, dsy_mammoth
dsy_li_freighter is the Rhino. I already made a thread about Freelancer Nerfs for House Tech. That said; rhino is terrible and I dont recomend using it. Do you know about restarts? You can use them to get the CSV worth over 3 times the rhino, aswell as maps, rep, and the other stuff.

What's the deal with restarts? Sounds useful, I did kinda dive into the server without reading much beyond the rules.
And yeah I know the Rhino is terrible just in general, but it's all I could afford, and didn't know it would be made extra terrible lol
I found Rhino great as a new player. It has a 225 hold and only costs 50K to buy. With that hold you can do a few long routes that'll earn you over 500K or some easy routes within Liberty and you could earn less. In no time at all you'll have a few Million which will be enough to buy a Small Transport with 1K hold. And from there on the journey begins...

Basically you take a brand new character, just created in Penn, and type in /restart liberty (or Outcast, Corsair, or whatever you want to play) and if a restart exists for that kind of character, you'll find yourself in a CSV with some repping already done, an appropriate ID, and maybe even part of your map already filled out.
Oh, yeah - just type in /showrestarts and the list should pop up of what's available, Bretonia Corsair Freelancer Gallia Kusari Liberty Miner Outcast Rhienland
