Lore .Suzume was out of luck and out of credits. She looked at the husk of the bomber she had barely managed to fly into the hangar bay before setting it down for it's last time. It was dead, beyond repair. She had had no response on her attempts to contact the rest of the gang. She hoped they hadn't fared as bad as her, or worse. That battle was a week ago. It was time, sadly, to move on.
.She needed to start earning money again. But with no ship and no funds, that was hard. All she had was this piece of junk lying in the ha... she stopped mid thought. Piece of Junk. That's it. She hurried of in search of a Junker representative.
."That's what I can give you for it." the Junker said shaking his head. "Take it or leave it". ."I'll never afford a new ship with that kind of credits. How about a trade?" Suzume said, looking around the large storage hangar. "Like that one." she said, pointing at a Griffon hull. "Does that one fly?". .The Junker laughed. "It would, but it's missing quite a few parts." ."Well, your engineers have looked at my ship, I mean, wreck." Suzume said. "Can you compare it to what you have on that Griffon and see how it overlaps? It's the same line of ships, a lot of the components should be interchangeable." ."Alright, give me a moment." the Junker said, sighing.
.After a few minutes of checking data on his screen, the man looked up. "Well, what are the odds?" he said laughing. "A merge between the parts of the two ships should cover most of the required components." ."Most?" Suzume asked. "What's missing?" ."Well, a few things here and there. But I'm checking right now and I actually have working components that should be possible to jury rig into the ship. And the value of your hull compared to the value of the Griffon hull should cover it." he looked at here with a smile. "Well, almost. But I like you, so it does."
.Two days later the refitting of the Griffon was complete. Now she just needed to earn some credits. She looked at her ship, which up until last night was considered scrap metal. It didn't look very menacing. She'd need help if she were to make a steady income from traders.
Goals
Current:
Recruit more Freebooters.
Earn a living as pirates.
Make allies.
Future:
Become a feared and respected pirate organisation.
OOC Goals
Be a roleplay heavy group of pirates.
Raise the sense of achievement by starting out with Light Fighters and only upgrade weapons, armor and equipment from money earned pirating. No transfers from alts.
Probie: The probationary member, or "Probie", is being evaluated for membership. Restricted to Light Fighters.
Freebooter: A full-worthy member of Freebooters. Restricted to Fighters and Bombers.
Inner Circle Representative: The Inner circle is the leadership of the Freebooters and consists of a varying number of seats. If a member takes on a role felt valuable enough to the Freebooters he/she is granted a position in the Inner Circle. The Inner Circle handles the treasury of the Freebooters. Restricted to Fighters and Bombers.
Current Inner Circle Seats: Leader: Himura Suzume
Technology and Treasury
Technology restrictions: Civilian Fighters and Bombers. Special permission, granted by the Inner Circle, based on RP can in rare cases allow for non-civilian fighters or bombers to be flown.
Treasury: The Freebooters pool most of their resources in the treasury, keeping only enough to cover their contingency fund and after that up to 10% of any bounty. The treasury is then handled by the Inner Circle which give monthly payouts based on the pilots performance.
Diplomacy, Area of operation and bases
Friendly:
Junkers
Enemies:
Anyone inherently hostile to pirates.
Area of operation:
Mainly within house space.
Bases:
Barrier Gate Station, Coronado [Main]
Diplomacy and allowed area of operation for the Freebooters will be based on RP interaction.
Who you are.
For anyone wanting to join this group there are two demands.
You must want to join because you want to RP.
You must want to join because you like the idea of self gimping, hard(er) mode of not meta-trading money to the group.
Setting up the character.
Whether you build a new character or want a new direction on an old character, your character should be equipped with one civilian light fighter and 300.000 credits in cash and be between level 30 - 40.
What equipment you have on your ship is up to each and every one as long as it doesn't push them past level 40.
Any amount of meta-money may be spent on setting up the character. Bribes to get the correct IFF, cost of the ID, namechange. Creating the character is a meta process. Once you are setup and tagged up there will be no more meta-transfers to that character.
Pirating.
Even gimped it would be easy to make a decent amount of quick money from pirating. Therefore the roof of what we demand is set to 500.000 credits. That sum should only be requested in rare cases. 50.000 - 300.000 is the average request.
Handling finances.
Each member has a contingency fund. That is the amount of cash he or she could need for rearm and repair. Any money pirated up to that amount may be kept. If the character is above that amount he or she may only keep up to 10% of any money pirated, the rest is to be transferred to the treasury.
The size of a members contingency fund is decided by the Inner Circle, based on his or her equipment.
Come payday.
Every pirate long for the day the booty is split. Every month, a percentage of the total credits earned is divided within the group, each pilots share reflecting the total money they've made, obligations taken on and extraordinary achievements.
Still interested?
If, after reading that, you are still interested in joining the Freebooters, go ahead and contact me in game, send me a PM or contact me on Skype.

Hey hey, I'd be really interested in this project of yours, but I have my doubts about pirating in LFs. How do you imagine the situation?

End of transmission.
After today, I no longer have to imagine. I've had so much fun today flying my LF around pirating. I haven't got payed a lot, but hey, that's not really the point of the group either. My best experience so far here.
Bark at the traders enough while circling them like a bee. Either they are RP'ers and respect your effort and pay up or you might actually manage to convince them you're a threat.
A lot of the time, the just keep on flying, ignoring you, and there's not much you can do about it. But everyone doesn't roleplay, sad, but something one has to live with. Just move on to the next, possibly hilarious encounter.
