Topic: Dr. Ervin Woods

Time stamp: 815 A.S.

"Mr. Woods. You do not even deny what you have done? You were and are aware, that what you've done was against Bretonian law?"
Obviously uncomfortable but not without pride, the balding, 50 years old man in the brown suit stands up before the court and answered this last and most important question the judges asked him that day. An answer that should alter his life more than anyone in this room ever thought of.

"I am and I was. But I have sworn an oath, the Hippocratic oath, not to judge the political or social standings of my patient, but to treat any human being at the best of my abilities. Thats exactly what I have done, thats exactly what I'll do again."
The judge held a short time of consultation with the two assessors before he rose from his chair to pronounce the judgement.
A pronounciation that could only sound more satisfactional, if he began it with "In your face", but I'm getting a bit off track here.

"In the name of Queen Carina I and the Kingdom of Bretonia, I hereby pronounce you guilty of the accused crimes. The sentence will be imprisonment of five years without probation."
Dr. Ervin Woods still stands straight. This was what he expected after all, though five years are a damn long time. But he stood up for his beliefs. He set a symbol here. He...
"As well, your medical licence will be revoked. You will be prohibited to take up a medical employment and your clinic will be closed immediatly. Lifelong. Your medical degree will be revoked
Next accused."
"But you cannot...!"
"I said: Next accused!"

And thats it. Doctor Ervin Woods, former owner of a nice, small clinic at a quite good location on NewLondon. former doctor. Prisoner. Nobody.
Many things did he expect after... eh, screw this. I bet you all found out, this Ervin Woods is me.
Well, I was certanly not prepared for this. I like Bretonia with all its flaws, but here I stood, my plans of opening a new clinic in Liberty, Rheinland, heck even Kusari maybe – though I cannot stand rice at all – shattered.
Well, the good part is, I then had plenty time to make up new plans... this trial was 5 years ago.

Topic: Doctors without limits

Five years in prison can be hell.
Five years in prison, surroundet by reckless criminals can be a lot of hell.
Five years in prison, when you're imprisoned for treating exactly these criminals luckily means, all you have to fear is the prison itself, not the people within.
Thus my imprisonment was... unpleasant, but not as bad as possible, I guess.

Well, nevertheless, here I stand. I took my steps down the road towards my apartment. It was a rainy day, of cause, it always rains on New London. "800 years in outer space and we still have nothing better than an umbrella to hold of the rain..."
I shook of the water as I stepped into the entrance of the house... standing right before the entrance to my former clinic on ground floor.
The mere thought of seeing this door every time I step outside... impossible.

What else to say... I sold my apartment, took the credits and went to the next spaceship-dealer. I made a basic spaceship license back in my wild days. Or what I used to refer them to.

The gigantic transports seemed lovely, you could store a whole hospital in them! Well, a small one. Propably.
A clinic would fit very nicely, thats for sure. But I'll rather not ask for the pricetag.

I had a little chat with the salesman, who actually managed to find a ship I could afford.
So, now I just had to name the ID.
"Ervin.Woods would be appropriate, I gue..."
on second thougt...
"Make that Dr.Ervin.Woods!"

So now I own a nice, small Combat Service Vehicle. It's a start, I guess. Barely launched into space, I became witness to a dogfight, apperently some pirate came too close to the secured space. After he was gunned down and his capsule tractored onboard the police forces, I found that wreck floating in the orbit absolutly unregardet. I plowed threw it a bit and soon found some pretty useful bits I took with me to sell at the next station where they actually providet me with the money for oxygen, food AND a place to sleep for at least two days.

Wouldn't get rich this way, but I won't have to starve either.
This seems to be working out for me.
