I thought about it... I saw someone requesting a Rogue / Molly Frigate, there is also the Salvager Frigate... Now People I don't mean Frigates as in "Transport" damn it. Real Frigates, now you probably gonna ask how and stuff, mix something between a gunboat and a destroyer (something in the middle). The Nomad Gunboat has Nomad Turrets which have a refire rate of 2.00 and make 1650 hull damage, I thought about weapons like that for the Frigate. How about the Frigates having a Hull between 160k - 180k and a Mixed up Gunboat - Cruiser Shield? Maybe even a NEW category for Frigates. Discovery has potential and actually a free place for this Smile. How about that Idea?

I used to see a transport-gunboat mix as a frigate.

yeah sadly, thats not the case, even according to history, Frigates have been considered as Warships! So Frigates aren't Transport-Gunboat mix.

Why would we need one more warship subclass?

A poor man's cruiser, also acceptable for Pirate IDs.

Gunboat shield, five cruiser turrets and a light powerplant. One heavy slot.

Pirate ID gets freedom. They do not also need Cruiser-Gunboat hybrids, definitely not.
LFs, HFs, VHFs, SHFs, freighters, transports, bombers, and gunboats are MORE than enough for piracy.

As for the idea itself, it's not bad, but- who would get ships like that? Every faction that gets them would need someone to model, skin, and code the whole thing. Not to mention balance.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but do we really need another class between GBs and cruisers?

I would prefer there to be a frigate class, but for it to be a mixture between transport and gunboat, like the Salvager is.

The container transports and Bison could also be reworked into this class.


In my opinion, we don't need another capital class.

Mh. Transports with cruiser guns? 'm thinking... no. We already have the Destroyer class as light cruisers (mostly, LSC should be a destroyer and that Bret thing should be a cruiser, seems their names got a bit mixed up in vanilla). The only frigate we have ingame is a more heavily armed transport. Which would suggests that the battletransies (Shire/Akegata/Bison/Uruz) are essentially frigates.
