Like the title says, should commodities be restricted to the id and/or ship of the trader in order to prevent ooRP trading. Like carrying nuclear devices on a Democritus with a Gaian id. Or some other crazy combination that baffles your mind.
If i Am not mistaken the tools for it are already in the game. For example the nomad and wilde id and equipment are handled the same. Without something in your cargo hold you cannot buy x for example liquid cardamine.
But it would be a big balance On Its own i guess

Yes, that would probably be a very very big thing to tackle- but it has big potential, too! We have so many trading or semi trading IDs that don`t see the use they deserve as most people simply pick a house, then the biggest company there and they are ready to roll, never looking back to the niche factions or the "underdog" factions again.
As i am a big fan of diversity in general, so enforcing "inRP" cargo that is properly paid would hopefully get us to see all sorts of ships and ids instead of always teh same 3( or the lux liner stuffed with ore or whatnot)
Thing is: it has to pay or no one will do it and this means a lot work for our dev team...and i am not sure if they really ahve the time for that or if it is an issue enough to get priority anytime soon or at all.
The balance stays, the way i see it prices are set right now so that all the routes are about the same. So you wont be unbalancing trading, you will just use the proper ship and id to do it.
This is a cool idea, actually. Not that there are likely to be a whole lot of commodities that this could be applied to that I can think of, but there are a few.
The problem is though, is it possible to have different allowances for the same commodity on different bases?
For example, the list of people ALG would sell nukes to is likely very different from who the Maquis would sell nukes to.
The Gate/Lane parts at Trenton would likely only be sold to Liberty corporations and others who are licensed, but the same wouldn't apply in Gallia.
Plus the whole system would have to be flexible since diplomatic stuff could change permissions at any point.
Liberty acquiring nukes through Ageira, who are eligible for importing them, to stop them from doing so and RP with ALG for exceptions regarding importing more different commodities then the current scrap/waste/hazmats. Just an example.
There are of course always ways around that, but still, the potential would be awesome. Synth folks actually carrying Synth paste, thus bringing some activity to Synth ships which in terms would bring activity to FA/LWB etc.

I am not sure how liquid cardamine is restricted
The nomad / wilde equipment usage is different since it kicks you for cheating afaik. If we can restrict certain commodities to be restricted without activating a cheat kick message I would be all for it. So we can start limiting for example: Kyushu Rice, Quantum Multiplexors, Synth Paste, nuclear devices, Hazmat, those things planetform makes (xenobiotic filters?) and so forth.
