Ichigaya was first constructed in 805 AS by the fledgling Kusari Office of Intelligence. Despite operating from the nearby Heaven’s Arch, it was deemed inappropriate to excavate Ichigaya into the iconic rock due to its historic and cultural significance. Additionally, Shogun Edo ordered that the drydock not be directly visible from The Arch, in order to conserve the site’s serene dignity for future generations. As a result, Ichigaya was hidden away within a nearby rock fragment.
Ichigaya was originally designed as a small outpost to securely house, reverse-engineer and manufacture Cloaking Devices salvaged from wrecks of Rheinland’s Northern Fleet during the Colony Wars. Since then, the facility has gradually expanded over time and widened its scope to the reverse engineering of salvaged or stolen technologies in general. As Kansai’s field trials conclude, Ichigaya has begun the work to refit its factories for the anticipated production of Jump Drives.
The Chochinbi Division’s interception of Artifacts and Xeno Relics in the Sigmas and Omicrons have also yielded a number of startling acquisitions. While the KOI remain tight-lipped about what they found, Ichigaya was quickly put to work under the close supervision of the Special Operations Division, producing unsettling replicas of alien structures. These new experiments are of extreme concern to the Blood Dragons and Order, who have intensified their raids on the area in response.
