for those that like the more colourful universe of babylon 5. - here is the fanmade game based on the open source freespace 2 engine. - it looks great, better even than freelancer.
i haven t played much yet, but the balancing was OK so far. - especially the capital ship / fighter balancing. - which is allmost as perfect as in freespace 2. - the shipchoice is a bit tiny though - only the starfury types. anyway - it cannot really be compared to freelancer, rather with starlancer.
its 800mb, but its free and a full game with a brilliant graphic + 2 compaigns.
I nabbed FS2 off the interwebs a while back. I want BtRL badly. (BSG mod)

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
i played the battlestar mod. - its even more sophisticated than the babylon 5 mod. - allmost photorealistic graphics ( for whats possible with the open source FS2 engine - but really nice. - beats my computer anyway. - it found it hard to fight though. - the scale of battleships and fighters is much more extreme than babylon 5 or freespace 2 original... and the ships were as hard to hit as centurion in disco - ... just imagine those centurions equipped with tough missiles that can kill a ship in like 2.5 hits.
but i think one gotto get used to it - since it ran too choppy, i uninstalled it again... its downloadable at the mod db. - its quite awesome what some modders have made out of the good old freespace.. - too bad freespace 2 is not multiplayer like freelancer, but only mission based in a small scale. - the engine is way advanced to freelancer - and well... its open source.
