After reading this entire thread, my thoughts are:
1. I love how this new design looks. I haven't flown the current Bulldog, yet, or know what it looks like but I do like your model. It looks fresh in that it's not exactly just another CSV with extra body added on.
2. I must, respectfully, disagree that all Junker ships must look utilitarian. I agree with the concept that Junkers would be master mechanics and might have a muscle car type ship in the garage for play time. However, if the roll of the Bulldog is to collect scrap over defending his brother Junkers, then you're on the money.
3. It would be nice for the Junkers to have a fighter of some sort that is just that, a fighter / escort ship. If not this one, then perhaps another.
4. As for the Junkers always fly "junk" thinking, I really don't see why you would think that. Each house has various fighter models and anywhere from 1 to 3 ships that use variations of said model. Junkers just keep regurgitating the same model over and over again without learning anything from the other houses? Isn't that one of the reasons Junkers are there? To spy on, and learn from, the 4 major and 2 criminal houses of Sirius? Did they learn nothing??
EDIT: To help my point with how Junkers would have a better fighter, not one designed for scrap collecting, is to point to the example of the Hogosha. They are, supposedly, the scrap collectors of Kusari. They have not one single ship along the lines of the Junker ships. In fact, they have a rather sleek looking VHF. Take a look at the SRD X12 "Black Dragon" Hogosha VHF on the wiki, the only ship in the entire list of fighters given as a Hogosha design. Only 55 cargo units doesn't make for much of a scrap collector.
Here's my point. The Hogosha put scrap collecting on the back burner a long time ago because they have another agenda. Now, thanks to the new mod and introduction of Gallia, so do the Junkers. They were originally sent to spy on the rest of Sirius. That, in fact, is why the Hogosha enrages them, they're unable to spy on Kusari as efficiently as the rest of Sirius.
Other examples could be drawn from, say, the IMG. They're a mining guild with the Nyx fighter that is nothing even close to useful for mining. Plus the IMG has an actual full-fledged gunboat instead of a half-breed like the Salvager. Not that I'm complaining about the Salvager, but I do believe Junkers aren't given enough credit in a game that describes them to be damn near genius at ship building.
I wouldnt call the hogosha scrap collectors, like the junkers are. I would just say that Kusari industry cares more about keeping 'clean' than the other houses. The Hogosha are more like the Yakuza IMO.
and @ Jure: They're freelancer textures, but I recolored some of the textures, and the logos are custom made.
Quote:...in our days the Junkers are the primary trash collectors in Sirius space - except for Kusari, where their old enemy the Hogosha collect the trash.
The wiki and in game information is where I got the information that Hogosha are Kusari's trash collectors. Except that they don't have trash collecting ships...go figure. Maybe we need to revamp Hogosha ships too, now that this is cleared up.:D
