That is an example of where I got my idea from. The A-10 Warthog. It has a minigun that fires AP rounds that will rip apart tanks, bunkers, buildings, whatever.
Who says you need a single powerful blast to do damage?
Yes, "It's not detailed enough." I'll tell you when I'm done detailing it, 'kay?
EDIT: Ignore the excess of lines, those will be cleaned up later on. They're guide lines for me.

Refire Rate: 1.25
Hull damage per hit: 6200
Shield Damage per hit: 4400
Projecticle Speed: 180m/sec
Energy Drain: 1000 energy
This slow moving projectile would deal about 7750 DPS if it was to collide with each hit. Of course, the projectiles are completely unguided, fire rather slowly, and move at a fairly slow speed, so it would be ineffective against Gunboats, Bombers, Fighters, etc. The only things at risk of the damage would be Battleships and large Cruisers, leaving the smaller ones like the Siege Cruiser able to outmaneuver before the missiles hit.
Looks like my models, including these two, my mining barge, my various fighters, bombers, and other misc things were on my D:\ drive, and were destroyed.
