Naaa, Disco`s RP environment is unique, and FL1 is running well on my netbook...So I am happy and don`t actually care of new space sims hardly mascaraed under numerous shaders, which eat performance.
Chris Roberts is actually Willy Wonka, he gives you a golden ticket if you know the answer to life, the universe and everything. Anyway i've signed up and i'm very excited for Oct. 10th.

I don't think this is going to be FL 2, he'd need a lot of funds, a dev team, and some years to complete it. Judging by today's games, EVEN if it's a FL 2 it will be a P2P MMO with a lot of stuff to grind for, random stuff in an item shop to suck as much money as they can from you. OR it's gonna be one of those terrible simulators where you can't use 3rd person and it'll be like Starlancer: A total failure, a game where you can only take omfg missions, you can't even influence the campaign and where the game ends when the story ends, YAY!

You mean... Like the wildly popular Wing Commander series he is most famous for?
If freelancer kept the same basics, maybe changed the systems, the story, ships, weapons, and factions and maybe a few colours, I would be all over it.

So popular that I (and some other people that I asked what that game is about and didn't know the answer) only heard of it when all this Freelancer 2 euphoria kicked in...

I can't help it if you're extremely ignorant of popular Space combat games, Mao, truly.
It even had a bloody Hollywood movie. (Which was okay, by the way, nothing amazing, but not so terrible you couldn't finish it)
Let's all sign a petition that they keep the original Freelancer combat and maneuver style so that all our years of accumulated experience don't get lost. Take it as a form of brand loyalty bonus.
