I have often enjoyed being the "man behind the curtain" and giving money for someone to sew discord and havoc into the universe, which we have learned is good for business. I have just met a very interesting man in Rhineland, and he was referred to me by a mutual associate he wants to join onto a criminal organization (former military) ooh, and start a faction which will specialize in discord and uprisings, as well as smuggling and profit. Now as long as Ol Indio can make some money on this deal than good luck Chuck, ya know what I mean.
I am to lend him 100 million to start his rise to power, this seems like a large sum of money and indeed it is; but to be at the ear of a leader and my grubby mits fully getting soiled with cash and intruige. Money well spent... but smuggling routes are not easy to keep hidden and secured, outing my good ones may not be worth the cost plus a decrease in business decrease any influence I have.
*puffs into air* The golden rule... he who has makes the rules.
Arranmore is off in the distance, the crew is getting excited. This base is one of the many places we visit that has a lively atmosphere, however it tends to almost always be the most festive.
"Ok men, I am giving each of you 24.5 hours to cut loose anyone not on board then will be left and owe me, since you all got paid in advance." (cheer goes up over ship)
I am sitting at a table with Sally, Dax, Honor and Val for about five minutes before we are approached about a job. This one is interesting; it involves Attica, cigars, and bustin' loose a Molly prisoner. The plan is well detailed the pay seems right, what is not to love?
I look at the members of my cadre and they nod, Sally frowns. (which usually means real bad idea)
So we are going to prison.
So this is my first time in "Duss" and I was very rudely attacked by two Unioners in Eagles, why is everyone in the multiverse so angry, ah I know poor equals angry. Unioners are about the poorest saddest sacks, maybe only the LWB is worse off anyway I digress. Even though this was not our objective it was still a good test run since the distance is about the same from JH to JH in to Illinois and Oita. I am feeling very excited about this as the LPI guard system is a closely kept secret, and we will get to break on through {chuckles}, *puffs on cigar*
I need to prepare the crew and we need to run as lights out as possible keeping our distance from vessels. With the current hardware it is impossible to track further out than 10K so that is decent buffer. Plus the men need crash drills. The basic crash drill and what stations they are to report. *yells to Sally*
"hey why don't you find me Gunther" "He is the best preparedness trainer, he trains LSF prison liner crews, and he is a complete psychopath; tell him we will pay him whatever he asks."
*Sally grimaces*
"A universe full of people and all you give me is Gunther LSF trainer"
*Indio smiles*
"Well Sal, we are Junkers and we deal in cash, goods, scrap, and info... it is one of the things I am sure you'll do fine"
Cpt, decks 5 and 9 pretty heavy damage decks 2 and command deck plasma burns, 19 casualties.
I survey the scattered mess I have and look at a near gaping hole in the outer shell of the Medusa, those freakin numb nutt'd b*st*rds. who the hell do they are, Outcasts, real pirates, important?! Feces eatin' Unioner Guard attacked out of no where and tore most of our ship apart, the mines we dropped and the capture of one of their pilots stopped the attack.
I want to see this a**hole who we picked up, he is going to need to start singing. Dax punch up Wuppertal and get us clearance to land
Oh, Jerrick hand me the cutter over there, I am going to go "sprechen sie Deutsche"
The unioner was actually a merc sent to shoot me up and drag me back to Ronnenburg. His name was tax.man and was apparently well known for "collecting" I did promise to let him go, which I did out the airlock, I made sure we shot him once for good measure. Now what coward can't just challenge this old captain mano y mano?
Finally some intrigue, I wonder why the Hessians want me or what they think I know, oh well I can't be worried about that now, we have permission to land on Wuppertal and the ALG guys are going to do us right, actually we couldn't be stuck in a better spot, the only people that are nearly as handy as junkers are the boys of ALG.
Men and Lady we are getting berths here tonight tomorrow we begin repairs and seeing if we can hire on some men.
[Sys On ID: Indio]
PR: Culebra smelter:/ secure channel 01
We get back to PR only to get a high priority communication from a fellow congress member who claims a group of rogue mercs are hunting down congress members one at a time and no one knows who is going to be next. He was alarmed that I was still online and still out and about. *puffs cigar*
I assured him that I am a figure and don't plan to go anywhere, I have forwarded credits to Aldus as I need him to upgrade his ship and be more vigilant, but 'Ol Indio is not going to be stopped. I guarantee my continued survival; besides I have only expended one of my nine lives.
So I was thinking about this merc situation, and I am wondering if it is related to the troglodytes that tried to due me in before. Politics are boring, however the fallout from politics are savory. I am going to replace some of my missing crew when I get back to PR.
I realize I have not been to Arranmore since signing that deal with the Molly's, I felt I was being a bit too predictable and I needed to switch things up a bit.
10 million credits, that is what we are pulling down with every trip and we are still home by evening. Well home isn't really a steady place. I guess I could call the old Medusa home. Currently we are looking for a port of origin somewhere my men and I can dump our crap long term.
Ugh, I long to feel some dirt under my feet, I have had enough of bases, but Ol Indio's rep sucks with Kusari, and a good deal of Rhineland. It is the damn Bounty Hunters. I think we will run this route to its fullest and then bounce somewhere new.
While it may not be the most exciting thing ever I have set down on Houston for some R&R. If you like food from all over Sirius than this is your place, of course unless you are scum like Xenos, or Mercs than you'd be shot on site, I jest but something is in the air and I haven't been able to raise any congress members for a few days. I help with a cargo transfer a few days back but since then it has been a ghost town on the sir waves.
I think I need to get to the bottom of this time to investigate. I have just the person. Oh finally my readiness guy is here to train my crew too, looks like things are looking up.
I have been to three sites now but I may try a fourth, two of the three locations are going to be great for a base. We have finally made enough that we can set down roots and build our own base. The location needs to be secret but it also needs to be in a location that we can easily get to our bread and butter runs.
I am going to consider one more location before I attempt to gather the required supplies and staff needed for base building. Is it time for a off shoot of the Junker Congress a more aggressive and more heavy handed smuggling operation?
I will need recruits and more bases possibly; for now we just need one built. *yells to Him & Him* Well I am off to view location number four.
