How about Nova and SNAC making.. ~7% damage instead of 1% to shielded base?
So Nova bombers make nearly the same average DPS (damage per second) as caps, SNAC ones - 1/2.
Would give capless factions more opportunities, as well as reduce server load during the sieges.
This is good idea but I doubt it would work out, as I understood it the dev team is satisfied with the base siege situation, nerfing the non-cap users and rewarding the mindlessly grinding people.

To take the sarcasm out of that reply, what they have done is create a system where sieging a base requires thought, coordination, and planning in a way that facilitates RP. You are basically suggesting we remove that and allow a few yahoos with bombers to go siege a base on a whim. Don't hold your breath waiting for that one.

When has a level 4 base been taken down EVER?
How much time and effort goes into building a level 4 base?

its required very much time to make base upgraded to Core 4. untill this time faction that may want that base to die should already siege it. for example, if Blood Dragons were not active enough to see Farmer Alliance base constructed and upgraded to 3-4 core, its their fault. and it doesnt means that BD should be allowed to destroy a base within hours when it required 4-6 days to make a base from zero to lvl 4.
Sieging a playerbase with bombers is already possible. Heck, you can do it with a light fighter. Just takes longer since you need to keep that shield up until the base has depleted it's supply of fuel - after that bombers can take the base out without too much trouble. I'm quite aware that people do not want to do this since "it takes too long and is boring". Well, guess what, so is hauling over a million units of goods to a base to facilitate it becoming a good L4 base.
So no, as Hawk said, a couple of yahoos with bombers will not be able to overwhelm a base in a matter of hours (unless the base owners goof up and let the thing run out of resources).

Why yahoos with battleships can and yahoos with bombers can not?
In the way i suggested it, sieging a base with bombers would require bigger amount of players.
Where 3 BSs are enough to take down a base, you'll need 5-6 players to do it with bombers.
What exactly here does it easier?
Maybe lack of lag caused by thousands of cap gun projectiles with long life time?

And fail like boss if the base have shield and your faction have no battleships or somehow bring around 20-25 cruisers to down supplied level 1 base or 50 bombers.
In general this proposition is the best so far, the easiest to do, if one bomber makes the same amount of damage of light BS, BSless factions would have a chance to siege bases and the laggs would be reduced for big sieges, it is win win situation actually.
