Losing equipment after docking on PoBs; post your experience

Hello.

I use PoBs a lot, and I never experienced anything to be lost (so far). My friend had the same issue, he lost his custom engine.
Here is a theory: I think those people lose the stuff, who bought and use an engine other than the default that came with the ship hull at ship purchase, and they dock on a PoB.
Could you please post your experience here, so it can be clarified if the custom engine and the loss of stuff is related or not.

I've changed the ship engines on several of my charas - no issue with docking on PoBs with any of those charas. Are you sure that its the PoB causing this?

Did you remove any of those items from the shop list? If so, i'm not aware of a way to get them back on there. I thought I lost a BS scanner once, after selling to a POB, then buying it back, I removed the item from the list with the /shop remove command. After that it doesn't show on your ship, it won't show at all while on the base, even though its there when you undock.

Other than that, I use a couple ships with different engines than their defaults, and have never lost the engine from docking on POB's.

Seems to happen rather regularly now.
Haven't seen it before the last update.
The message "Can't launch without a power core" is what shows that the base ate your core.

bases are confused by engines they generate two listings for each item.
when you sell an engine on to the base it mucks it up.
after that you can see heavy lag in the commodity and equipment dealers.
if you then click to sell a single item fast, repeatedly, you will trigger a 'Base Confiscation Bug'.
this may 'confiscate' any items of equipment that have been sold on to the base, previously..
it has occurred at the point the base refuse to buy but still has free space

Yes, I started this post to explore that problem. My friend did not lost the core, but only his custom engine, after docking on a PoB. I also heard that once most of a ships gear was transferred into the PoB (turrets, engine, shield, thruster),despite those were not listed in the base before, and the player did not have admin access for the base (so he could not register it in the commodity list).

ahh well i had already done that.. whilst i haven't had anyone else do deliberate experiments, i have poked and probed this fairly extensively.

i do have admin access to our base and i can assure you that the equipment is moved to the bases stock and that only items which have been sold onto the base by an admin are 'confiscated'

You can induce the bug by rapid clicking sell on any base that has been 'infected' by having an engine sold to it ever ie once infected there seems to be no cure for the rapid click problem. this affects all ships (even ones with no engine)

if anyone wants to help you could test
* try rapid clicking on a bases you know have/haven't had engines sold to it
*if you are a base admin then try it before and after selling a engine to your base (though i dont recommend it. building a level 1 base just to test would be wise)

Yes... that's what I was doing, I was at a base that was full, so I was fast clicking to sell the final cargo units... then I got bored of waiting and clicking and went to make a coffee... when I came back I noticed I was kicked by idling, so I log on again and got the no powercore bug.

they dont necessarily have to be the last few units you can do it anytime

if the engine has been sold onto a base then off again and subsequently removed from the stock list.
the base will still confiscate them when triggered by the clicking.
the only way you can tell is by selling engines (plural) onto the base.
one should be the item as was on the ship as purchased, two more should be bought from an NPC dealer (i took care to ensure these were carried as spare and that the original remained in use). this will ensure you sell the base both types.
you will then see both in the dealer window and listed under shop and will be able to differentiate which is which (note however your base may already have a few i found 6 class 6 types)
if you set shop to not buy it will no longer confiscate the item. but. it will still confiscate any other equipment that is set to buy in shop. if that is a scanner you will be blocked from launching. Also it may (not certain this happens every time yet) fail to recognize the engine is fitted. even swapping the engine with a spare or purchased one will not work. admin assistance is required, post here

all that does though is show you how many of that engines you have, there are many other types, which you would have to repeat the process for to eliminate all possibilities !

if you find the commodity and equipment dealers are lagging then the base is infected. until you remove all those engines and then the shop entries they will lag. that ONLY cures the lag. the base will still confiscate when you rapid click and then the lag will return

as best i can figure there is no player action which will cure the 'confiscation' bug. it is like treating Herpes.
at a guess one of the bases files becomes corrupted by the double engine thingy

as i get the chance i will create a level 1 base just to test that i can cause this by selling an engine to it.

whilst suggesting the removal of engines from the game may stop further 'infections' i am far from certain it will cure bases already infected and suspect only replacing files with pre engine backups will work

in the meantime take care not to fast click on any PoB with a laggy dealer
