It is quite annoying when you have a large cap ship and some small crappy ship comes and bumps you and you roll like hell.
It happens to me all the time.I bought the barge ,tried to go through a jumpgate and i tried lining it with the JG properly, and when i was ready to jump some crappy NPC ships just came, bumped me and i rolled over and the whole thing was screwed up,i had to reposition my ship again.
This happens in my bretonia battleship too,i position it somewhere and when NPC ships spawn and attack me,they sometimes bump into me and make my ship roll.
Don't take this too harsh, the disco mod is IMO the best mod ive ever seen, but this thing is far too much exagerated. In real life a capship will never be able to be rolled or flipped when a small ship just touches it.This should apply in discovery too. When you crash with a small ship into a cap ship, the cao ship should stand still and the small ship should roll/flip.I think this is an aspect which should be looked over, because it really destroys gameplay, imo.I haven;'t participated in any big capital ship battle, but it looks really awfull when for example a rheinland battleship, which is massive,or a barge, which is almost twice bigger, can be flipped by some small ships crashing into them. Please somebody fix this,it is really ugly :|
NPCs fly on rails - they are an irresistable force ( literally ) --> when they hit another irresistable force, they attempt to strafe around it ... if that fails - both irresistable forces can pass through each other. ( NPCs fly through asteroids )
player ships are NOT flying on rails - they are a resistable force. - simple physics - an irresistable force hits a resistable force - the resistable force gives in.
also - NPCs do not take ramming damage. i guess that was done, cause NPCs were never bright enough to steer around obstacles - and if they rammed AND took damage ... the singleplayercampaign would have been even shorter.
there is no solution we know other than switching NPCs off.
Key word in your entire thing "BARGE" The barge is the only vessel that now does this. The battleships and other large crafts used to do this as well. Its been lowered drastically but I believe do to the sheer size of the barge there is no possible solution. As jinx just said.
EDIT: Sorry I skimmed through it. I never had the problem with any of my other ships, and i've used many, where they flip like that now. The only way it rolls in combat, being your Bretonia, is because when the NPC rams you they actually continue to ram you until they eventually go through you. What I suggest is you shoot the targets before they get to the point of ramming. All NPCs follow an attack path, they always do the same move over and over again. Focus on that and attack use strategy, shooting at the next one to come in for the attack. Once you get that down you should have less flipping.
Barge is the only ship with this problem? Are you kidding? My 4.8k tradeship gets flipped all the time when I get attacked by NPCs pirating on the lanes. And it's not only NPCs ramming me that's the problem, it's their stupid mines too. Wouldn't you know it, the deadliest feature of mines is that they make your ship do backflips.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that in SP, NPCs can be flipped around.
