I think you need to shut up and be happy that your parents have money cause your own efforts won't get you far in this day and age.

Lol, it's cool when someone goes like this w\o even knowing for sure. Makes you look incredibly stupid once you realize you're talking to someone with work and enough revenues to pay the bills and shit.
One of Disco's plugins is probably the problem. I run Windows XP with old divers on a dual core 2GHz with 1GB RAM and a 256MB Radeon GPU. Disco is laggy and slow as hell, with short freezes ad a fps of >50 at all times. However, I have absolutely no problems playing Crossfire 1.9 on maximum graphic settings with loads of players around me, fighting NPCs, and with loads of high-poly/high-particle effects around (CF is much more graphic-intensive than Disco). I also have next to no lag, and there are no lag spikes. So the problem is probably one of the plugins that run on Disco.

I still barely understand why you visited the thread at all. But I voiced my opinion here already.
Mind you, I'm posting this a player and not a developer, since the subject of this thread isn't really in my area of dev work.
Up until quite recently, I was running Disco on a Core 2 Duo, Geforce 8800, 2GB DDR2 ram machine and never had any performance issues on high settings, bloom mod, HD starspheres and 1280*1024 resolution. Sure, there were FPS drops here and there, esp. when ships started exploding, but it was nothing major and I generally ran on 120 fps just fine. My netbook (which is supposed to be crap for gaming) also runs FL at a steady 60 fps.
That said, since Freelancer is a rather old game running on a mess of an engine, and most people who have performance issues happen to be those with newer computers, I'd say it's more of a hardware compatibility issue rather than actual mod performance problems. Also, if you think Disco is too hard on older hardwares, you certainly haven't played any of the freelancer "eyecandy mods" out there, which are cool and all, but totally unplayable on a stone-age machine that managed to run vanilla Freelancer just fine back in the day.

That plugin is currently disabled. I haven't turned it back on yet since the config still needs some cleaning up to do. When I do though, there'll be a post here saying it's reenabled.
P.S: Has nothing to do with mod balance. Should be in Mod General Discussion. /summon Pavel
