This also doesn't take in to account the Food, Oxygen, Water and Reinforced Alloy that the Base consumes each day.[/color]

True, I did not take daily consumings into calculation, which I'm reading after as we speak ( and as I work) so that indeed changes things. About sale prices of certain things, I an not totaly aware of everything, thus I can only rely on the info given in the before mentioned threads. If those I way to inaccurate, then indeed my idea might be wrong.

First off, please learn to read , as I only pointed that particular post out cause that is solid proper prices they work with, thus good for comparing.
It was never a question, nor will be how many OSI- members supply their bases or not.

1) Telling the other "learn to read" is kinda rude. The guy is not a native english speaker (neither am I), so give the guy a break, ok?
2) We run the equipment bussiness at OSI like a company would do. We have a document listing all stuff needed, and the closest place to buy them so the transport pilots know where to go for each item. The price the base buys the items is not the default price (that is used in those calculations you mention), cuz the pilots have to make profits for their runs. So we pay a lot more than the basic price, depending on the distance traveled. On top of that, we pay bonuses for the pilots that haul more. And on top of that we have to make profits for the station at least to mantain itself (a core 4 uses a lot of RA and FOW per day). So, yes, although those mentioned prices are possible, they are only possible when you do it alone, the station buys the commodities at the same price as everywhere, and you do not count in the time flying to get those things. If you try to run it as a bussiness, like we do, those prices are unrealistic.
I hope that clears the subject a little.
Oh, and if you want to buy some stuff from us, with some RP you can get some discounts, mind that too.

If set up as described above, then you are right. However the reason I posted your prices is because others seem to put their price tags according to yours. So it is a good place sto start from
However, those situations, when a station is in the middle of house space, where gathering the basic maintance materials isn't that hard to manage, prices still stick to the "trend" making those prices higher then it would seem right , at least imo. I might be wrong happened before
Also, I probably will, cause my char is not someone any house corporation base would be happy to have as a customer xD
Time costs. It might be cheap to make a docking module because it doesn't require expensive resources, but you could maybe do the same number of ore runs as the number of runs you need to make a docking module. On one side, you get 150 million, but on the other, only 15.
It wouldn't be profitable to make docking modules (or whatever POBs make) if they were 10 times cheaper, so people wouldn't do it at all, but would mine/powertrade instead.
@OP - simple answer: market demand. You want to buy equipment cheaper, you need to build your own base (not cheap), supply the base, defend the base, and fly all over to get the commodities for the equipment build (time consuming).
Don't be stingy....or just haggle/barter with someone if you don't have the money.
Since the time you spend on making these equipment is very high (seriously) they have higher prices. And then comes the base maintanence factor, profit factor and the cost of getting these products. You can earn somewhere around the price of these equipments, if you are trading ore, smuggling for that much time, you have spent on making these equipments.
