As I've seen the recent rants about maintaining a POB, I wanted to ask if we could implement a type of 'crew' thingy that when you upgrade your base, you get one or two NPC's who do the base supplying for you, bringing in only the basic stuff needed to keep the base up, of course you'll need to do the upgrading part yourself, and the npc's shall take the credits for the base construction from the base itself.
The number of supplying NPC's would increase with base upgrades, but they don't increase themselves, you'll need to buy them for a price, they would be placed in different categories, and the NPC's with the largest cargo holds cost the most to buy.
I am presenting this suggestion after looking at 88 flak, in-game, you could get wingmen to escort you and follow you on your adventures, and they were so op you could win almost every fight you pick. So why not implement this kind of programming in discovery? With supplying npc's instead of following wingmen?
Ok, so if I at 4 AM in the morning when noone is around decide it would be a good idea to build an Outcast base in Manhattan orbit, I can get NPC's to do it for me?
What if a player decides to quit the game, will the NPC's supply his base indefinitely?
I don't really think this is a good idea. PoB's suck big time, their only raison d'être is that it is believed that they somehow foster activity and interaction between players. Take that away, and there is no reason to have bases at all.
No I dont like it. Secret base can be found easy with it. And the whole point of a base is to have it have to make u feed it regularly.
Bases are balanced and balanced I one is gonna add NPC just so u can have a 1 man base in the most remote location ever.

I see your point, but what if using the NPC's was optional; maybe for someone who does not play often and doesn't have many people to help supply the base. Also, you could choose not to use the NPC's if your base is secret.
And its not like you will get the NPC's to build the base for you, or supply the base forever. You would pay the NPC's like players to supply the base, and if your credits run dry then they will stop.

The main thing is time devotion. If you cant log on and supply your base then you shouldn't have one. Bases are for teams of people. Not just 1 individual.
You can also hire people to help you out so this encourages RP and player interaction. I have been doing that for my base.
The NPC is a good idea... but there needs to be a balance in having a good core 4 base thats almost indestructible and having you supply that indestructible base so that it stays alive.

Nothing personal, but it's kind of a bad idea, mainly because it contradicts the purpose of PoBs.
Exactly. Its for teams of people and to develop RP. Its not for just 1 person to use.
