So I know this is going to make me wildly unpopular but...

Seriously nerf Junkers.

Why?

When I'm logging in, a large fraction of the server is Junkers. Right now, 7 of 20 players online are Junkers (and that's just the obviously tagged ones). Why is this?

Is it the Zoner-like diplomacy they enjoy? The great ID allowing you to dance either side of the law as you choose? The cool, rugged looking ships? The grossly overvalued commodities they are hauling? 10k for scrap? Are you kidding me?

This isn't me picking on Junkers, just pointing out these observations. Is this contributing to other faction's lacking players?

*Puts on firefighter suit*

OK, I'm ready! Flame on!

EDIT: Hilariously, right after I posted this, my computer bluescreened. Even my computer is a Junker at heart...

So two highly active player factions would play less? Junkers do other things than hauling PScrap (which is used, but still working ship components by the way, not metal pieces). Junkers are fun to play, the balancing between the unlawfuls and lawfuls give all the spice of it; yes, Junkers dance on both sides of the law, but they have to do it careful or they get slapped by both. Have you even tried it?

Yes, players usually make an Indie and haul PScrap for cash. You don't like it? Make an LN/LPI/LSF char and stop them.

Zoner-like diplomacy: Junkers have mortal human enemies, while Zoners only have the Aliens. Why is it the Junkers's fault that those enemies play less than them?

It's not that I don't like it. Yes I have played the good cop, the bad cop, the Junker and the Rogue. Problem there is Junkers have an easy out - they are Quasi-lawful. The diplomatic blowout just isn't worth it. And scrap isn't Illegal so the roleplay there consists of a couple of lines and that's it. I've seen the Congress muscles flex when they are taxed by house pirates. It ain't pretty.

I'm not exactly sure what a LPI/LN/LSF could do to a scrap hauling Junker, it's not like they are hauling contraband. I don't really get the point you are trying to make there.

Nor do I want players to play less. The question I meant to pose was would nerfing Junkers increase activity elsewhere?

Again, I don't actually have anything against Junkers. Just made a post with my observations in it.

Yeah, Zoners were limited eventully so naturaly people will become junkers to trade everywhere and anywhere. Hey i'm not picking on them, just stating the obvious. Besides, Zoners are also quasi-lawful but they aren't considered that on the surface by people.

Were fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

do a xeno bomber.... enjoy...

bettert, there's bazillion of junkers that they're only there for the prem scrap.... and nothing else (other ships that doens't generate so much benefit needs maintenance). you can try to pick them all.... but beware... they're aware of their enemies and they arm themselves in consequence.
The fact that they have a wode larger array of activities than zoner makes them more interesting (especiallt if you ain't for caps) find a junkert in gallia, kusary or outside the other houses and you might be in troube...

"Where you delivering these scrap to?"
"Valetta Shipyard."
"Really now... Supplying Outscums is illegal."

Yes because all Junkers are compulsively honest.

Oh that's right, they aren't. Do you think a Junker would actually give that answer ingame to a lawful entity? Next please...

I have to admit that's a pretty good idea. I might just try that.

one thing why some many junker traders exist is because of the missing smuggler id
and the only other id, that fits is the junkers id...
as a junker you can do what ever you want to unless you are caught doing unlawful you are the good guy
additionally junkers have a good potential to do rp.

This muscle flexing is inRP. When someone pirates a member of a faction, he/she should be prepared for the consequences (FR5, bounty). The diplomacy that the Junkers currently have is the result of the past work of the player factions. I am not in Congress for that long, but some older member .

One route goes through Bering/Hudson, and that is embargo running, no matter where you take the cargo.

No. Nerfing always caused decrease of activity, hardly ever did activity rose elsewehere due to nerfing.
