Even though I agree with you, Kress. I'd suggest that you think of another tag, not because people might take you for Russians, but because a number of Russian newcomers will use "your" tag indiscriminately. You'll have a hard time trying to convince people out of the tag from time to time. That was one of the reasons the Mandalorians dropped the [M] tag. Not to mention the fact that there are a number of [RU] tagged characters already.
looks OK. - but it also looks a bit boring. - its not like rheinland is a pirates paradies, is it? i m currently not up to date about the new traderoutes ( i was simply too lazy to read it all up ) - but all in all, rheinland does not offer many opportunities for a real pirate ( unless you consider the sigma > new berlin passage satisfying ).
the choice of ships is good - and you will get into trouble once you re facing a few anti-fighter gunboats ( as does every other fighter based faction of course ) - well, you have the advantage that the [RM] is very reluctant to allow "foreigners" in their space - so most encounters should at least be under "control".
maybe i have missed your long term goals in the description... but are there any? what will keep the long term motivation up for a unioner player? will it be the daily piracy? or will there be more about it than just what every generic pirate does. - what makes the unioners unique compared to others. - or if i was totally new there... what would make me choose the unioners over other pirates. - whats there to offer that others do not offer in terms of roleplay, and roleplay opportunities in terms of "how will the unioners affect rheinland in a way that others will not".
about the technicality of the name. - simply "unioners" would have been more appropriate than "rheinland union" ( which sounds like uniting rheinland ) - but thats up to you. the basic layout looks the way that it cannot be critizied much, as you have limited and restricted yourself so much that there s hardly much freedom left to express yourself - except the passage with the salvaged stuff that may be authorized.... . [ Hijacked vessels of other types will be overviewed by the command for authorization. ]
about that passage, how to ensure that - after some time.... not the whole playerfaction will be special authorized to use something that is not listed. - how to keep it "special"?
Learning from the eventually decline of names, one example: the [Zoner] tag of a newly formed faction, In your place I would use name that rarely cross others' names. For a wide and fanatical Unioner faction, I would use a name like Rheinald Commune [RC], or something like it perhaps translated to german... this is only suggestion, and my very personal opinion about the matter.
Sorry for posting here, if someone finds my words offending or completely useless, or who knows even childish. In these cases, please, ignore my post.

Update: The faction name is now changed to Alster Union and the tag is replaced by [AU]. I have seen some people with RU tag yesterday which made me feel uneasy so yeah now I hope this will sound and look better.
As for Jinx's questions, I have some words to say. I personally don't believe that starting with a wall of long term plans would be much realistic. We can't completely estimate what time brings or takes away. Unioners are already as they are and going to act as they should. At best we could encourage ourselves to see how Unioners interact with other parties officially and how this leads them to plot either short or long term plans of their own.
For the authorization of exceptional equipment, there should be an exceptional example of roleplaying and reasoning which should be submitted both on forums and the server so that we could spare a moment to think over it. In this way we cold motivate people much more than usual to roleplay and labor for a concept that they would like to posess under the Unioners alignment.
The uniqueness of the Unioners is that they are starting with a blank page and will suffer the consequences of their own actions just like any other party. Their uniqueness is their regularity.
As for the overall motivation, Unioners are now planning to counterstrike the Rheinland Military in a surprising way that few of us know. The word diplomatical might be a hint here but there is a lot more to come, with time of course.
as for fighting the [RM] - it would then be beneficial ( even if its not mandatory on disco ) if you tried to recruit people / players that do NOT have any rheinland lawful chars. - while multifactioning is no problem, and i m sure players can enter whatever role they are supposed to play with their characters... it is of course a disadvantage when players play both, military and unlawfuls, cause they cannot play both at the same time.
about the rest of what i wrote, ... yes... i m aware that its not really necessary to come up with some grand plan and all. i just mentioned it to be aware of the future plans involving that faction. i see quite some factions starting out with a great and promising concept - just to be abandoned after sometimes less than a month - or only logging on when the serverlist allows it. - that means, they do not initiate interaction anymore, but only react to it. - a very passive stance as opposed to an active role to manipulate the server reality. ( if you get my drift )
there are only few playerfactions that are really active. - a lot more react when its needed - and some are not active at all anymore, except some claim on the forum. - and for that, its a bit too much efford to go through the approval process, i think.
As you say, instead of starting with great concepts and such but then going inactive, building the interactions and events slowly is better. The faction will be more reliable as well this way. Yet, people shouldn't expect from a Unioners aligned faction to be as active as the military at the start off. The two are different from each other in terms of opportunities they have and the inclinations of people. We are hoping to attract people those who look for some diversity in their overall discovery experience. Once the basic roster are established, we can talk more comfortably about the activity frequency of us. About multifactioning, I'm not planning to put such a restriction as our opportunities to lure people are already low compared to other groups. But we will try to change the disadvantage to our advantage with concentrating on events and diplomatical affairs much more than any other group out there.
