. The Yamamichi-gumi is a well established criminal organization within Kusari, although it has only been very recently that they have taken the foray into direct intervention in interplanetary concerns. The effects of their power, for the longer period of their existence, have been mostly limited to terrestrial conflicts and commerce on Kyushu and New Tokyo, and more recently the extensive tourist business of planet Tomioka. With the recent death of the previous boss triggering some restructuring, the group has began to make its first efforts into the void, to seek out new sources of prosperity. Immediately prior to this venture, the organization conducted strings of overt power-grabs and assassinations in order to hedge out smaller competitors and consolidate their direct and indirect influence on the New Tokyo underground and distribution avenues in other locales. This move into new markets is spurred on in part by the relatively recently shattered political and economic paradigms of the House of Kusari, forcing criminal and corporate groups of all stripes to struggle to redefine themselves against the new backdrop of representative government and the looming risk of being relegated to the status of “vassal state” against the mental and material might of Gallia.
. The current boss of the group, Fuma Katashi, had been noticeably more willing to employ violence and coercion than the former boss. While it has been some years since the transition happened, the reputation he garnered in that time has been sufficient to keep most of his terrestrial rivals under his thumb, or at least sufficiently inclined to talk instead of starting another open war. While they are already one of the larger groups on New Tokyo, they possess a solidarity among the various ranks that is uncommon even among the Hogosha. This was built in part by the recent expansion conducted with both open hand and fist, and by the previous leadership’s skill in internal administration. While the new boss shows no signs of being any less capable than his predecessor, the organization has only recently been consolidated under his control. Thankfully for the whole of their membership, the conflict was resolved with only a few key rivals needing to be ground into the dust before it became apparent that this was to be the new order of things.
. As their position now is stronger than ever, and they are making their bid among the Kusari underworld entities for a piece of the action, there will need to be a period of investigation for the group as they see what connections stand to profit for them, and where they can set up alliances among the other bodies within Kusari. Among their goals will be to maintain the mostly friendly relationship they have with the house authorities, and to see what inroads can be made among the other various criminals in Kusari and Sirius at large. As always the Junkers are viewed as competition, however that did not stop the Hogosha of old from trading artifacts with them indirectly. Whatever fate has in store for the men of the Yamamichi-gumi, they intend to leave a legacy worthy of record. Jarringly chimeric between the displaced, socially disaffected youth culture of a hemorrhaging Kusari and a tree of tradition that finds its roots back to New Tokyo’s planetfall, the Yamamichi-gumi are a microcosm of the uniquely Kusarian issues of deep traditional influences within an ever changing political and economic landscape.
TL;DR: They are a Kusari organized crime group, that intends to expand operations both at home and abroad. Diplomacy . As the group draws on a diverse array of business and unlawful contacts within Kusari built up over a fairly long period of common Hogosha activity, their debut into space will feature the common ups and downs of the Hogosha affiliation. At this juncture a full listing wouldn't really be productive. Instead, the most important angle of their diplomacy will be the effort to make inroads among the various Gallic and Sirian criminal organizations, and with other external bodies, to become a true leader within the black and grey markets.
Identification and Operations
ID: Hogosha
IFF: Hogosha
Tag: [/|\]
Names: Following Kusari standards, family names come before given names. So the common English example, John Doe would be "Doe.John"
Technology access: Clearly favor Kusari technology. With that in mind, it is open to whatever is appropriate for the particular character and their role, within the allowances of the ID. That said, even though there is a light technerf, one should not probably be seen by house authorities running Corsair tech.
ZoI: As per the ID. However, as we are legal in most parts of Sirius it isn't exceptionally bad to head outside to make a quick buck or to say hello to the local Junker population. It should be perfectly clear however that if you are outside of Kusari, you really need to mind your manners.
Recruitment: Open. Simply ask. If you only want to fly a ship, that is fine. If you want to do forum things, that is also fine. Things should be very flexible, so if there is a special niche you want to fill, I'm sure something can be worked out. Activities, ideally, should range everything from breaking legs, to gambling operations, to corporate fraud so a diverse range of character concepts can fit right at home here.
The OoRP Segment: Thoughts and Personal Views . The essential idea for this faction is to be actually getting into the whole yakuza and organized crime angle of Hogosha RP. While bribes for the government and trying to keep cordial relations with house forces are a must, the idea of "protecting Kusari" is going to be less overt as a motivation for this group. It should be patently obvious within the stories as we progress that this is, first and foremost, a yakuza-style criminal enterprise. Even within the original writings to be found on the Hogosha, one will note that the news always referred to Hogosha as "Crime Boss" or other such titles. There implication is that everyone is quite aware the the Hogosha as a whole are not actually a group that exists for the preservation and advancement of Kusari. While certainly with a very different coat of paint, the entirety of the Hogosha's originally intended role in Kusari is perhaps best understood as "Kusari Junkers." While this does not reflect all of what the Hogosha are now or can be, it is an important underpinning to their origins within Freelancer.
. If it can be helped, this will not be yet another sort of Kusari faction that seems to ignore the rest of Sirius. Drawing upon the very nature of the currently relevant problems between the Junkers and Hogosha, expansion and inter-house connections stands as a fundamental impetus behind Hogosha operations. The Junker problem is not one of "They are theives" but rather "They sell guns to the same people I want to sell guns to." It is a battle between two criminal organizations for control of Sirian underworld market share. The challenge will be finding the right means to conduct these attempts at expansion without undue overreach. Dealings regarding Junkers stand as a premier point of potential development, either for business or hostilities.
. One of the most defining parts of the yakuza is their ability to operate on a partially public level. This is an element that we will have to pay special attention to. While backroom deals are a staple, it is also a common trope for them to be able to publicly, legally even, extort companies or otherwise flount the law. To hide criminal activity perfectly is good, however to legally report blackmail money on your taxable income is its own special sort of success. Likewise, the odd connection to the government will be another area that will likely require a special attention if it is to be explored. Probably one of the more interesting examples of this sort of relationship in real life is from the 60s when Eisenhower had a trip scheduled to Japan, and the government contacted yakuza figures to provide security for Eisenhower. It is an odd relationship, and one not many organizations in Sirius can match in this regard.
. If anyone has anything they'd like to contribute or comment on, anything is welcome. Clearly it is something that will need further development over time, so consider this a work in progress, and elements are subject to change as we figure things out. But, really anything is open to comment, from strategic positions advice to simple commentary about writing style.
Further, if anyone wishes to chat, a public Skype has been set up if anyone is interested. It can be remotely accessed by putting the
following code into "Run" in the start menu, or else if put in place of a file address in "Windows/File Explorer" and hitting enter.
(In place of the stuff like 'C:\Example\Example').
There have been several successful contacts using this way, but if it isn't working for you, the more traditional methods of contact are open.

Even if I understand and greet this point of view, it is diametrically opposed to T&T philosophy.
T&T works for a better life, not for *more money*.
And we do have some RP Characters with deep knowledge of Kusari traditions at Tinker´s.
Im looking forward to the RP ;-)
In what way exactly do you mean? Do I intend to ally with the junkers as a whole? No.
Do I like getting access to high demand goods that can be sold in Hogosha accessible markets, and doing so totally legally? Yes.
Do I think its a little bit nice, iRP, to use Junker labor to benefit Hogosha bank accounts? Yes.
None of this is really the issue though. As stated before, the problem between the Hogosha and Junkers is fundamentally one of business competition. The particular breed of junker/freelancer that is Tinkers Haven does not really compete with any Hogosha interest. It just opens up a new market, and we are getting a piece of the action. This is exactly what a Kusari faction needs even, an inroad into RP with external bodies. I'm sure that whatever the issue with the Hogosha and Junkers are, it'll be getting hammered out as soon as we are seen running premium scrap. As the registry is a closed access list to everyone but LibGovernment people, I guess it'll have to wait until that awkward moment when a hostile junker and a Hogosha meet outside Tinkers. Although, iRP, it'll probably come up first in the station's bar. In fact, if you want to play out the hostilities in the bar, that sounds like a great RP opportunity to get some good writing in. I'd welcome it.
I'm looking for novel activity, and this certainly qualifies.
Ah... and the Cantina needs life as dearly as Kusari itself ;-)
I found very little motivation lately to write something.
In that sense : welcome to the Haven, and Im looking forward to be weary of you.
After all, Fynn has his own demons to hunt and his own past to cope with, and it all has to do with the Hogosha.
As far as buissness opportunitys go : That´s exactly what the Haven was built for.
In a very real sense Fuma Katashi and the Yamamichi-gumi are using Tinkers very own code of conduct to achieve their own profit : We are traders, and prefer to solve difficulties per diplomacy or negotiation, perhaps a little bribing or some covert move... and they do the same thing.
Sure, violence lurks beneath the calm waters.
And that is exactly what makes this a promising RP move.
