You currently have 3 class 10 shields.
After the implementation, you will have 6 shields.
The other three can have double the shield capacity, but will take up, say, ~70 units of cargo space (Guardian has 75).
This will, however, result in cargo size normalization for bombers and snubs using class X shields as well as a possible cargo size adjustment for existing armor upgrades as well as removing some of the redundant ones.
EDIT: This will be an interesting idea for one reason as well. While you will get a larger shield, which regenerates- saving yourself from instakill via SN or Battle Razor will be much more costly due to shield battery use.
Meaning that right now a heavy bomber can mount a class 10 shield to get a few extra ''full'' shield regens in order to avoid getting caught with its shield down. With an advanced shield, when you do lose the shield, you will find that you can only regen once, before being razorbait.
This also mean that you are more voulnerable to bombers. Since a large shield will save you from continous fighter fire in a one on one fight, but a single SN will still take the shield out. Just now you have even less full regens to use.

On second thought, this would be a nightmare to balance.
So it won't happen regardless.
