Xenos, Rogues, Lane Hackers, and more... all resided here.. I thought, as we approached Huntsville Prison Station. Many of which haven't forgiven me for the trouble I caused them when i still served with the Liberty Navy.
As the Massachusetts moored with the station, the guards dragged me up to my feet and we approached the bay doors. As it opened, 20 men armed to the teeth entered the ship and rushed towards me, surrounding me. There was no way out.
We exited the ship and headed to the prisoner check in. A small robot appeared "Scanning Prisoner"
"Name: Joshua Thornton"
"Age: 37"
"Hair: Brown"
"Eyes: Blue"
"Height: 5'10"
"Weight: 150lbs"
"Occupation: Ex captain - LNS Fort Blakeley"
"Scan Complete, Prisoner #5528110 Welcome to Huntsville"
A guard pulled out a small device and walked towards me. "Give me your hand" I complied and felt a quick burn that came from a laser from the guards device. "5528110" it read.
The main prison hall, filled with cheering, booing, and threats as i passed through. Thousands of prisoners starred at me, wondering who I was. We left the hall and headed near a small corridor, still hearing the screams in the back.
"Well isn't today your lucky day, traitor" We came to a stop, next to a small room "Welcome Home.." The guard threw me in the room, and activated the laser bars. Only a bucket lay in the room, nothing else..
They were doing this for a reason. I needed to prepare myself for the worst that will come. I won't tell them anything.
...Sleep
I awoke with a splash of water to the face.. "You have company" one of the guards said. What are they going to do to me!? torture, question, starve me.. all these thoughts rushed through my head. I wasn't ready..
We entered a small white room, with a table and a couple chairs. "Have a seat, your friends will be with you in a moment"
A man in a dark blue dress uniform entered the room, and sat in a chair opposite of me. It was time..
The man was in his late fourties, greyish hair, and his face contained a evil look. "Well, Captain Thornton, of the now scrapped Fort Blakeley. You really got yourself in quite a mess here, And i can't guarantee it will end well."
The man smiled, stood up and approached me. "You know, you and your little battle group have become quite the nuisance to us lately" The tone of his voice grew deeper, and darker. He turned around, walking back towards his seat.. He motioned his hand to the door, and in came a taller more built man, armed with a plasma rifle.
The man in uniform took his seat, and kept his eyes on me. "Let us begin" the soldier charged at me with his gun flipped to the butt of the weapon. Pain struck my face as i was hit.. I fell to the floor spitting out blood.
"Now, Thornton.. now is not the time to flock around with me, answer the questions and this will go smoother. I took another hit, this time in the chest. "Who commands the 522nd?" i coughed, gasping for enough breath to respond "A very smart and noble man, sir." I lay there on the ground, expecting another blow.. "Well, there's a start, Guard.. again. This time Thornton, i want a name." I took yet another blow to the stomach.. "You will find out soon enough" I took 3 more blows, before falling unconsious.
I awoke with my head in a bucket full of water.. unable to get free. The guard grabbed me by my hair and pulled my head out of the bucket. "Now, i will ask once more.." The man raised his fists "Who! *hit* Commands! *hit* The! *hit* Battlegroup!?" My face was bleeding, cut up by the ring on his hand.
I couldn't take anymore, and had to answer him.. "Xytan Witcomb..I am surpri*cough* surprised you did not know*cough*" The man had a puzzled look on his face, then replied with a soft answer... "Very good" The man stood up, and walked out of the room, before turning and saying "Sleep tight, Thornton." The guard moved towards me and struck me in the face with the butt of his weapon, knocking me unconscious yet again.
The Crucible of Justice stood as the 522nd's command and flagship.
It had been retrofitted countless times and resembled a miniature colony-ship then it did a Liberty Carrier...
Xytan Whitcomb sighed, he was inside his own private quarters hidden under the Carrier's docking bay. It had been just few days ago when Xytan's Flagship the Forward Unto Dawn had crippled the Durango, and in a blind victory rush went to meet the Liberty Navy on their own home soil of New York.
Oh how he wished it went differently, the flagship of the Navy the Missouri launched its auxiliary craft, Xytan knew the navy's tactics but the interference of several third parties ultimately cost him the battle.
Whitcomb sighed once again "Thorton..."
the ambitious Captain was one of the few left behind after the exile notice. Search and rescue teams had found him stripped of everything he had by the Navy, as if Joshua Thorton barely existed at all...
Thornton was given a new choice of ship and flourished as a bomber pilot.
All to well Xytan watched as Thornton's ship withstood blast after blast from Naval Warships until his ship didn't even have a shield generator...
The Dawn immediately lurched for Thornton's pod but was to late...
One of the Navy's Gunboats snatched the escape pod and the arrival of the Missouri's Auxiliary wings forced Whitcomb to flee...
Xytan stood up to his full imposing height and walked towards a lift, his lithe fingers sliding down to the control panel.
The lift veered up heading towards the command deck of the Crucible.
A spot in the wall slid aside and the lift slowly stopped perfectly in line with the opening.
Several of the deck's crewman spared a quick look and went back to their work.
"Wheres Wayne?" Xytan asked heavy handed
One of the ships navigator's spun his chair around "He went to the recreational lounge sir"
The only thing Whitcomb hated more then the Liberty Navy had to be his close-friend and co-leader of the 522nd, General Wayne Hammond.
Whenever he needed the General he would be off in what would always be the farthest and most hardest to reach spot in the ship from Whitcomb's current location.
Whitcomb turned to a small console, clicking on a switch and began speaking, his voice echoing throughout loudspeakers placed throughout the ship.
"Bridge to Rec. Lounge, This is Admiral Whitcomb, I need the General to the bridge immediately"
A voice spoke back "Admiral we will have to-"
Xytan recognized the voice as one of the engine technicians and cut him off "On the double crewman"
"Aye Aye Sir..." the Technician replied
Xytan flicked the loudspeaker off and turned to a secondary console

We will remember - We do not Forget - We do not Forgive
I awoke in my cell, body aching, hungry. The deep cuts on my face were stitched, and i had a tray filled with food scraps, as well as a small glass of cloudy water. I quickly ate the food, and left the water there. It was dark, and the only light i had was from the bars, I had no clue what time, or even day it was.. so i just sat there, for what seemed like hours, thinking of ways to get out of this mess.
Footsteps awoke me from my thoughts, they were loud and coming closer. The footsteps stopped, it was the same man from the room.. the guard. He had a large grin on his face as he deactivated the cell. I flinched as he came towards me, expecting more beatings.
"Don't worry, I'm done with you, for now." He said, snickering. "Get up, and come with me" I struggled to get up, but eventually did with the help of the guard.
We walked through the corridor, and approached the same room as before, this time someone already seated. "Take a seat, Thornton" I was surprised to hear that it was not the same man as before, but i knew that didn't mean things were going to go easy.
"I'm not telling you anything, let me make that clear.. I spoke the last time, but not again. Do what you wish, but i will not answer any of your questions" It had to be done, i couldn't say anything this time, I had to be strong. I took my seat and awaited my torture.
"Well, that's all nice and dandy, but that's not why i am here, Thornton. Guard, please leave the room" the guard left, and shut the door. "Then what do you want?" I was curious as to what the man wanted. "To help, Thornton.. I want to help." I grew even more curious. "And you are..?" The man smiled "Names aren't important right now, what is important is why i'm here, now please listen" I sat back in my chair, eyes widened.. ready to hear what this strange man had to say.
"Now, I do in fact work with the navy, but i do..." the man looked around the room, searching for something, he spoke in a softer tone "I do believe in some of the ideals of the 522nd, and i believe the exile of the battle group was wrong.. And I know something is up with many higher-ups in the Navy."
"I can get you out of here, Thornton.. Well, your men can get you out of here. But they wouldn't know how, and with the Mississippi in weapons range, an assault on the prison would prove fatal to the battlegroup."
I sighed loudly "And, how could you possibly do that?" " With your help, of course.." the man cleared his throat "I have no idea how to get in contact with your commanders, to help with this plan, nor do i know where to find them, I need you to.." I grew angry "No. You think I'm stupid? Just going to give up valuable information like that to a complete stranger? A stranger that is working for the people I'm fighting against?"
"I know how this looks, but if you ever want to get out of here, something needs to happen. Think about it, I'll be around again" The man walked towards the door before i stopped him "you want to get in contact? Get a unarmed ship and fly somewhere that no navy patrols go, and wait." The man banged on the door and a guard came in. "I am done here, return him to his cell please" The man left the room, and the guard dragged me out, back to my cell.
I thought about what the man had offered.. And hoped he would somehow take my advice and find Xytan. I was tired, and wrapped myself in a torn blanket, on a cold stone floor.. waiting, for who knew how long.
It was the middle of the night, at least i figured it was, judging by the light guard patrols. I could hear many footsteps rushing to my cell, at least a dozen men by the sound of it. It had been weeks since my last meeting with someone, they haven't brought this many guards before, something was going on.
Two entered my cell while the rest stayed outside. The men dragged me up to my feet, and we began walking, with the many guards following behind.
The room they brought me to was different from the last times, stone walls, one light, it smelled of something horrible. A man was sitting in the corner, the same one from the first time.
"Sit him down, and strap him in" The guard pushed me towards a chair with latches and straps.. I sat and they strapped me in, unable to move.
The man was holding a needle in his hand, flicking the top of it. "Have you ever felt like something was trying to get out of your skin, something hot, burning your flesh from the inside out, but yet you are perfectly fine?" the man spoke softly, "This is what will give you that feeling, Mr. Thornton." the man stood, and began walking towards me.
"A real shame how some people wish to help you, such as your friend who came to visit you the last time. His family had to pay the price sadly."
I struggled to break free, using every muscle to break the latches ,with no success. "There is.. no escape, Thornton." the man walked closer, I struggled more and more to break free but again with no success.
"I hope you enjoy this" the man poked the needle in my arm, and drained all of the fluid that was inside it in my veins.
"The effect will last 10 minutes, after that 10 minutes you will answer my questions or you will get another dose."
I let out screams as the chemical began to work on my body, it felt as if my skin was tightening and my bones were going to pop out. My body was on fire, from the inside. My screams were silent, i couldn't talk, my eyes blurred...
The effect wore off, but i still felt pain. "Tell me Thornton..Where are the 522nd hiding?" he said, flicking another dose of that horrid chemical. I opened my mouth slightly "I was willing to die for Liberty when i joined the navy, I am still willing to die for it. I won't tell you anything, no matter how much pain you put me through, the 522nd will let out the truth someday, and I'll be waiting"
The man starred at me, knowing i was telling the truth. He approached a guard and unholstered his plasma pistol, then approached me. I remembered my family, the one they slayed.. My two sons, Only ages 7 and 4, killed for my actions. My wife too, a stay at home mom, also killed. I knew i would see them very soon.
I smiled as the man aimed the gun at me.. "The 522nd have no chance to defeat us...Thornton, our navy is 15 times the size of theirs." I looked into the mans eyes... "But what will happen when the secrets get revealed to the people of liberty.. what you have done to my family, and are about to do to me will not go unpunished." The man placed in a charger pack and fired....
