It would be interesting to have something to explore here in Discovery. The main problem with exploring is FLCompanion which shows every single planet and/or base in the system. I just realized that there's a way to work around it, so here are some questions from me:
1. If I remember well player bases cannot be detected this way, so it literally means they would be excellent for such a task. Is it possible to add POBs with unlimited (or HUUUUUGE) amount of hull points instead of normal POB's one?
2. Is it possible to apply an different model to POB, like planet, or station currently existing as NPC one?
3. What do you think about something like it?
Some explainations:
1. I want to place it inside nebulas because of being visible from long distances. If you actually put a planet, which can't be detected by FLCompanion into nebula, it will be more or less invincible. It gives a plenty of options for flying around and just exploring.
2. Something like this would work really cool in Nomad systems covered with Nebulas, just add some 'stronk' NPC spawns and this place will be really awesome.
3. The problem I see is: it could be impossible to add atmospheres and boom-boom areas for planets. Maybe you could add the sphere alone, but it would make it visible in FLCompanion, so better not.

Why not to use the Dyson Sphere from vanilla FL as PvP System?
P.S: I know it doesn't refer to the subject, but I came with this idea in mind right now.
Actually the Dyson Sphere thing could change after the Omicron Update. And frankly, there was an temporary dyson sphere you should jump into from conn in the past, not sure why it got removed tho.

It's easier, but I just doubt that everyone will remove those shiny tools and play fair giving everyone equal chance. Also giving some mystery would make it able to hide some surprises inside.
This a very interesting idea, especially if it was linked to forum RP. By default the planets could have codenames like GX-10 (like in Omicron Iota currently) and generic infocards such as "Nothing is known about this planet" but the first player who discovers and writes a RP report on these astronomical objects would have the opportunity to name them and write their infocards. PoBs already support editable infocards so I don't think this would require too much work on top of the original proposal.
Keep in mind that there are other ways to "hide" objects from FLComp, like placing them very far off plane (this is the case in Omega-55 where one of the planets is way, way above plane iirc).

Having various new/unseen before systems "rotate" would be best, in my opinion. Deploy some sort of new system accessible through an "unstable jumphole" in one patch, kick everyone out and close the jumphole a week later. Making the content in such a system somewhat dynamic so that you can't just flcompanion the heck out of it the instant it's released would be a bonus.

Could work this way too. Just give some bases for exploring, because right now either everything is explored or there is literally no need to spend ages in space looking for something. Combine those 'rotating' systems with planet's atmospheres, like the Tomionka has and it would be just perfect. Also, adding some wrecks in the middle of one-shot-one-kill NPCs with profitable stuff to sell on research stations to encourage people to fly in dangerous areas could be nice as well.. Also you could make it impossible to jump with anything bigger than snub or freighter, to add to the difficulty.
