Biography:
Daniel Jackson was born on Planet Pittsburgh to Melburn and Claire Jackson, a young couple who both had a passion for archaeology. Daniel spent most of his youth on the road with his parents, be it at a new dig site, or the grand opening of an exhibit. When he was at his family home on Pittsburgh he would spend his days caked in dirt, pretending that he was off on his own adventures. Some would say this is where his passion for studying the past began.
Daniels 10th birthday, a day where he first experienced the cruelty of life, was much like any other birthday to begin with. His parents had a surprise for him, they had organised to take him and see the Anomaly near the Pennsylvania gate and had gotten special permission to go closer than anyone was allowed. The visit was everything Daniel could have hoped for, but the trip home was when tragedy struck. Pirates had set up camp on the edge of the Badlands, disrupting the lane to West Point. They were stopped, these pirates didn't want a simple fee, they wanted everything and were willing to kill for it - Daniels father pushed him into an escape pod and launched it towards West Point, Daniel could do nothing but watch from the window as his parents ship exploded. Daniel was picked up by a responding Navy Gunboat, sadly it was too late for his parents.
Daniels grandfather, an esteemed historian by the name of Nicholas Ballard took him in , although their time together was somewhat limited by his work. Daniel spent the rest of his young life on Planet Cambridge as that is where his grandfather was currently working. He finished off his schooling and found that his parents had left him a sum of money for him to chase his dreams. Although it wasn't quite enough for an entire degrees worth of tuition, luckily his grandfather had some money he had saved for such an event. Daniel was lucky enough to attend the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with a Master of Biological Anthropology.
Following his degree Daniel worked as an intern on Cambridge Research Station for a year before deciding it was time to make his own way. Although he did not have the capital to start his own scientific venture, a passing Interspace Commerce ship captain saw a potential, and figured it would be good to have a well educated man at his side. He offered Daniel a job as his First mate, an offer Daniel couldn't refuse given the lack of opportunities at the time. Daniel accepted this opportunity and began working.
After about a year Daniel met a woman named Sha're, they fell very quickly in love and were set to marry 2 years later. Daniel worked as first mate for 4 years, learning the in's and out's of the trade, after which the captain approached him with another proposition. He had been training Daniel as a replacement, he offered to let Daniel captain his ship in exchange for a portion of the profits. Daniel accepted and made quite a reasonable sum of money after working for 4 years as captain, sadly it was just shy of enough to begin his adventures. Luckily for Daniel, fate was in his favour, after handing in his resignation his boss made a final proposition due to his fine work over the years. He asked Daniel to sell the ship in exchange for half the profits. Daniel did so and as promised received half the cash, he headed home to see his wife on Planet Cambridge.
He arrived by shuttle to the planet, expecting to see his wife waiting as she always was - but she was nowhere to be seen. Then he noticed his grandfather with a grim look on his face, a look he hadn't seen since his parents passed. He knew something horrible had happened, he was sick to his stomach, he wanted to turn around and get back on that shuttle. His grandfather told him the news, Sha're had been killed the very night before in an accident on her way home from the shops. Daniel couldn't believe it, he didn't want to... everything seemed so dark, so aimless without her.
