Also @Reeves to COUNTER your argument even more, take a look at this: http://discoverygc.com/wiki/Fighters
Compare the Hull hitpoints for light fighters. What do you notice?
You notice that your argument is not consistant about "paper armor" . one of the weakest ships is the Neko.
Additionally, the argument that fast=weak doesnt makes sense either. Look at the Mistral Noir for example. That thing turns slower compared to most LFs, it has 4 guns, and it is weak

That's what faster means. Every time someone refers to a ship as being faster, they mean turn speed.
Well then the perception @Haste is doing isnt really making sense here. going really fast is turn rate. So what? See above for inconsistency in the argument.

Extremely high responsiveness and maximum turn rates, when used properly, make a ship very difficult to chase and stay on top of in group fights. You don't need higher thrust speed to be able to evade enemy fire.
I'll give it another shot, then, and I'll see.
But my point is that while that's all good and all, the enemy only needs to shoot the sheild down and then keep vollying CDs. Half of the difficulty is already done.
In my feeling CDs are rather fine as they are. What LFs might need ( and what would make sense ) would be a slightly greater thrust speed than HFs/VHFs. For example by +- 5 / 10 units, not by 30/50.
Light fighters are designed to be impossible to hit. Yes, Haysabusas and Arrows are weak compared to their Heavy and Very Heavy cousins. But have you ever taken down a LF without spamming nukes/missiles/CDs? It's hard. Eventually there will be a win when the VHF or LF sits still for too long and gets obliterated, or a stalemate when the LF cant do damage and the VHF cant hit at all. It's balanced.
The Arrow problem should be taken into consideration, though. The Stargazer gets to use Class 8s, so maybe the Arrow could have something like that, while still retaining the ability to use Class 6 codenames and guns. Or- just make Class 6 versions of class 8 guns.
Haysabusa is... well its the smallest ship in the game, and with three guns is a real menace. Only problem is if one of those guns arent a debil you are stuck doing no damage ever unless you are a pro at minesweeper mine traps.
Wasn't this a conversation about CD spam on LFs?
Just don't be that guy that does it. Once we get guided missiles back CD spam should be a little less unless you try to take out the missile with the splash. Just use your mines and your guns and potentially your snac (its possible) to take them out.

yeah that would make sense to have. maybe solve it with a specific thruster mountable for only light fighters?

Or do that LF 'Supercharger' thing we both commented on awhile back. I don't know where that went. Let me go find it.

LF guns are high burst-DPS weapons. We don't need to be the Spatial with seven PGs firing for 20 seconds.
What needs to be considered first are HFs. The ones that aren't Heavy LFs or Light VHFs are really bad. I'm flying an OC HF and I have two CDs for crying out loud. It has near zero usefulness unless you are pirating.
