- Last time I checked, my colleagues were welcomed by a barrage of fire from every Dunkirk within Bretonia space. It really does not seem like we're on the same side, John.
''You don't fight civillians, not without good reason. You oppose the GRN advance, you stick to your ideals. While you might not be blameless or innocent, you have values. That's good enough''
- I'll consider that a compliment. - she said, a faint smile appearing on her face. She briefly looked over the cloud on their left, trying to guess where Torshavn was currently located, before turning her attention to their destination. The lush world was slowly growing in front of them as the lanes steadily carried them towards it.
''Please do. You're far more worthy of respect than other unlawfuls'' He said. The ship slowed and eventually exited the trade lane. John went through the requests and was soon piloting the ship over the city of 'New Oxford'.
- Thank you. - Caroline smiled once more, her eyes briefly skimming the windshield as the Templar cut through Cambridge's atmosphere. Assured that no cracks planned on making an appearance, she focused on sightseeing, sometimes leaning forward to catch a detail that left her field of view.
He saw her looking out the window, and so slowed the descent and angled the ship so she could see a few of the highlights. ''Nice place eh? Lot of Gaian sympathizers around these parts''
- No wonder. - she replied, not really specifying what made her come to that conclusion. She gladly made use of the slower descent, taking closer looks at whatever caught her interest.
He hovered a bit, allowing the ship to turn slowly around the city, getting a good view of the parks and the lanes. The little man-made rivers running along the streets and under the bridges. ''You won't find a view like this on New London. That's for damn sure.'' They lingered for a moment before a beep indicated that the traffic controller had asked them to move along. He fired the thrusters and continued on toward their destination that was Maidstone.
Caroline remained silent for the remainder of the flight. She kept peeking through the windshield, her eyes constantly finding various interesting objects down below.
Roughly an hour and a bit later, Maidstone came into view. It was a smaller village, bordered by a vast apline forest to the north that eventually gave way to a large mountain range that streached on for miles in either direction, from Maidstone one could see the peaks of the mountains, always capped with snow. To the south lay New Oxford, the city they flew over when they arrived. The surrounding land was mainly farmland, dotted with trees with streams running too and fro. The village itself was lined with cobblestone streets and corner shops. The tallest building was the cathedral, its archaic spires and bell tower looming over the village. However their primary destination lay just west of Maidstone, nestled beween the alpine forest to the north and surrounding farmlands.
It was a massive building that stood in stark contrast to the qwaint and humble village that they flew over. It was quite apparent that this was the house of the resident lord or viscount. It screamed class, but also kept with the village theme of Bretonian gothic architecture. It was an ancient design taken from old Earth, but with a distinct modern Bretonian flare, the gardens and hedges surrounded the landing pad as John put the old templar down, a slight shudder indicating contact before he powered down the engines.
''Welcome to Maidstone house Carol'' John chirped to her, unbuckling his harness and heading into the cargo hold to fetch her stuff. ''Feel free to look around, the staff have been informed of your arrival...just...be aware, they might not be all that....political...if you catch my meaning''
