Thought about adding it instead of Winrar, but Winrar handles more formats (including 7zip!).
EDIT: Knoppix - Linux with almost everything you need on a CD.
Something less common but otherwise very handy if you have large capacity hard drives (such as me), tend to have a problem cleaning it up before it gets completely filled and once you hit the capacity limit you have a hard time finding some heavy trash on them which no doubt hides somewhere deep in the bowels of your illogical directory structure. If that is much true to you too then this little handy software is for you. It's free and opensource too among other things.
Few years ago I've been looking for Nero alternative since it became more and more bloated with completely useless stuff, became very slow and ugly. So, to keep the system in "spartan style" I've found a good replacement:
It is also free, small, compact, supports everything you would probably need, including Blu-Ray support among other things. It's also very reliable, in years of use I never had a single problem with it. While it's simple at first if you take a deeper look into options you'll find some pretty advanced things that are normally hidden away from user, allowing you to tinker with some parameters which your burner might support. It was created by the author of DVD Decrypter.

<strike>Comodo Internet Security (firewall + other bits) - Consistantly ranked within the top 10 firewalls available, but unlike the others in the top 10, it's free.</strike> Actually, probly not freeware freeware anymore.. Just checked their website and they're selling different versions now. They still have the free version though..
