Hello, Admiral.
I wish I were contacting you on better circumstances, but at this juncture it's just not possible. About three hours ago as of the time of this transmission, one of my patrols in the Zone-21 minefield caught eyes of an unusual situation. While the details are fuzzy, which granted they always seem to be, the captain aboard the gunship L.N.S. White Plains reported a heavy disturbance in the minefield's restricted area caused by the engagement of supposed Fifth and First fleet forces by an 'Interdictor'-class Assault Battlecruiser and a 'Ransuer'-class Outcast Heavy Assault Dreadnought.
I could be misinformed, as the only evidence I have right now is a hazy guncam shot from the White Plains before she was knocked out of action by the Ransuer in question, but if this evidence is fruitful, then it could spell a sort of trouble for our forces in the coming days. As the current Commander of the Third Fleet, charged with the defense of the Zone-21 minefield and the Alaska system on your behalf, I'm hoping you can clarify the situation for me to make my job in all of this significantly easier. In return, I'd be more than happy to dispatch an asset or two to assist your forces in any operations you may have as a result of this.
Liberty's fragile, Admiral. You are more aware of this than most, and it'd be harmful to the whole of the Republic if we were to let problems like this go unchecked. I'm sure you're doing your best, but while one force is strong, two are even more potent.
I'll await your response Admiral. Until then, happy hunting.
Regards,
Admiral Mark Ferguson, Liberty Navy Third Fleet Commanding.
