- Main Gallic unlawfuls, a revolutionary faction
- Ex-Council normal Military (generally capital ships), extremists (generally snubcraft)
- Focus on cargo acquisition, RP demands and propaganda handouts (cannot pirate for money) from traders
- Primary Enemies: Gallic Navy and Intelligence, Gallic Royalists
- Secondary Enemies: Outcasts due to long running feud dating all the way back to first Minefield opening
Maquis were once the small radical expelled cell of The Council that remained the main Gallic opposition's attack dogs. It is them who put the King into a coma, in effect sealing the fate of the Royalist Gallia . . . temporarily. They outgrew their usefulness, were betrayed by the then newly formed Confederacy, with their headquaters they built in the open gassed, assaulted and ceremoniously destroyed by Battleship DeGrasse, Confederacy's symbol.
With the Confederacy decimated by the shifty Kusari Naval Forces, The Maquisards could only watch as Gallia once again fell under the control of those they fought so hard against against - the Gallic Royal Enclave, now rebranding themselves along with former Confederate traitors into the military oppressive juggernaut, The Gallic Union.
Maquis who always relied on Council for large scale diplomacy and logistics now find themselves in an unusual role of being the only real counter force to the Gallic Union. After the Union's founding, they were joined by conventional ex-Council forces, and are faced with a chaotic situation of extremists and conventional military men of various convictions having to work side by side for the common goals - taking down the Gallic Union and the scavenging scattered remnants of the openly Gallic Royalists.
Extremely outgunned and outmanned, with logistics that cannot compare, faced with an automatic death penalty without a real trial when caught and the large capital assets your movement posesses not being able to compare to modern Union warships, you are the ultimate underdog when you fly the Maquis. Often risking your life in desparate near suicide runs, hurriedly scambling for any support you can get from external sources and factions. You are fierce, with strong ideals bordering with zelaous obsession and spite and up against the odds, you are the anti-hero that is willing to use brutality when it feels right for you feel like you have no other choice.
