Hi guys. I was checking around the net for news today and I came across this game called Killing Floor. As the description says, it's a survival horror first-person shooter with zombies. Right away, I know what you're thinking; Left 4 Dead. And from what I've read about it, that seems to be what it is. However, there are some differences which may catch your eye if you like L4D and were wishing it had a bit more to offer.
Here's some features which differ from L4D:
* Co-op game mode for up to six players obliterating multiple waves of specimens
* Persistent Perks system, allowing players to convert their in-game achievements into permanent improvements to their characters skills and abilities
* Over 40 Steam Achievements, including Dignity for the dead for killing 10 enemies feeding on dead teammates corpses and Hot Cross Fun for finishing off 25 burning enemies with a Crossbow.
* Watch those crucial and violent creature deaths in slomo ZEDtime, even in multiplayer
* Solo game mode for offline play
* 9 different monster types trying to eat your face off, armed with everything from teeth and claws, through to chainsaws, chainguns and rocket-launchers
* 12+ weapons for the players to chose from, ranging from knives and fire-axes up to pump shotguns, rifles and a flamethrower
* Add in a welder, medical tools and body armor to help the players survive
* Players choose which Perks to play with, so they can best balance out a co-op team to survive the horrors
* Open, non-linear play areas: choose when and where to fight or run; weld doors closed to try and direct the monster horde
* Fully-configurable, allowing players to change things as simple as the difficulty level or number of creature waves, or go so far as to set up their own favorite waves of monsters
* Support for Steam Friends and other Steamworks features
* Includes SDK for the creation of new levels and mods
It might be worth checking into at least, so here's the game's official website: http://www.killingfloorthegame.com/overview/ (I linked the "Overview" page not the "Home" page).
Anyway, if you search for info on this game on Wiki you'll run into some contradictive information. The first paragraph says the game is being developed/published by Tripwire Interactive, but on the right-hand side under the picture it says the game's being developed/published by Valve. Yeah, I don't know what to make of it either. I'm betting on Tripwire since Killing Floor was originally a mod they made for UT 2004 some years ago.
So, is this game going to be better than, as good as, or horrible in comparison to L4D and the horror game genre in general? I haven't played it but based off of what I've read, and the awesomeness of another game Tripwire made (Red Orchestra: Ostfront), I'm gonna assume it's going to kick ass.
What do you guys think?
(You're right, I didn't. I hate polls. Would rather read what somebody thinks than give them an option to bypass all of that and press two buttons and be done without contributing scat).
I bought it a week ago, just waiting for when Steam will finally decide for it to be released.
Come on, its been on "This game will be unlocked in approximately one hour" for four hours now..
EDIT: Finally! Its released.

only flaw at the moment is trying to get on an actualy server.
and if you host you have to restart your game to get rid of it on the list (as it would affect your speed with people trying to join it even when your not on it)
My one fault with it is that it is rather boring when playing solo.

Having a blast playing it.
The first patch they put out fixed a lot of the join game issues I had.
For the most part, standard playing is 6 people to a game... But there's servers that have up to 100 people playing.
Lemme tell you.. THAT is a gongshow. You try fitting 100 people into the trader room, which usually has trouble fitting 6 people in.
Not to mention the fact that you run out of ammo long before the gajillions of specimens are dead.
